My mother sent me a very cool journal/notebook thing for my birthday. Unfortunately, the cover is so embarrassing I can't be seen with it even in Japan.

The sky was UNHINGED on our day trip today, y'all. As soon as the rain remotely cleared, it was bananas the rest of the day.

Meoto Iwa (wedded rocks) - a larger outcropping in the sea with a small torii at the top linked by shimenawa to a smaller one. Background is bisected by the blue sky with white clouds above, endless horizon of blue-green water below.

I DUNNO, MAN. EVEN WHEN IT WASN'T SUNNY! The sun would backlight the clouds and transform a relatively normal/boring view from an unmanned train station into something beautiful. You can even see some of the blue and white of the sky behind me in the platform mirror.

I found an indoor "free rest area"! So now I'm eating onigiri and drinking a sports drink, instead of being a sweat monster outside. Although there are deer outside...

Sicily is covered in barn/feral cats and one just strolled in alongside us as we were bringing our stuff into one hotel room. I had to keep the bathroom window open at night because of humidity issues and worried every night about surprise visitors (thankfully none)!

This is a tough one. I feel like Margie is usually just Cat with strong Rat Baby (see: flinging herself 3ft up against the closed bathroom door because HOW DARE WE). She can be incredibly sweet and cuddly when she wants to be, though.

A major part of this leg of our trips is focused on my love of hot springs & spas so, of course, I started my period :/ It sucks, but I am still making full use of saunas (sitting on a towel, of course) and soaking my feet. Complete with unflattering spa clothes.
