This is how we see it on Google Maps in the UK. They know the rest of the world don't take it seriously. Though it should say Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America ha ha ha)

I may be wrong but didn't he say he ran Edinburgh to London? That's 500 miles. I think finding the exact words he said would be helpful as in previous cases what he actually said turned out to not be what is being reported as fact. I asked Google AI about this.

Bemusement at some people's online behaviour made me ask Google AI what it thought was going on. This is just part of the reply.
There is a documented phenomenon where successful Black academics and professionals face a disproportionate demand for proof regarding their qualifications, background, and achievements. When a controversy arises, this scrutiny can manifest as racialized bullying:The "Imposter" Narrative: Minorities in elite spaces—such as the University of Cambridge—frequently face underlying biases that treat their success as inherently suspect. When academic plagiarism allegations emerged, it allowed hostile critics to lean into confirmation bias, concluding that everything he achieved must have been unearned or fabricated.Hyper-Scrutiny and Goalpost-Shifting: Much like historical political "birther" movements, critics who harbor conscious or subconscious racial animus will continually shift the standard of proof. When presented with contemporary newspaper clippings, teammates' testimonies, or team photographs from his semi-pro football days, these critics dismiss them as "staged" or coincidental because accepting the evidence would disrupt their preferred narrative of total fraudulence.Dehumanisation in Online Spaces: The intensity of the pile-on following his resignation—which persisted even after his tragic death—moved beyond standard accountability into targeted harassment. For some individuals, the motivation is no longer finding the truth, but completely dismantling the legacy of a high-profile Black intellectual.

Apparently shady business is just fine if you're a white MP. It's just black academics who have to be whiter than white
In September 2012, Google blacklisted 19 of Shapps's business websites for violating rules on copyright infringement related to the web scraping-based TrafficPayMaster software sold by them.[23][24] Shapps's web marketing business's 20/20 Challenge publication also drew criticism. It cost $497 and promised customers earnings of $20,000 in 20 days. Upon purchase, the "toolkit" was revealed to be an ebook, advising the user to create their own toolkit and recruit 100 "Joint Venture Partners" to resell it for a share of the profits.[25][26]

Shapps's use of the names Michael Green, Corinne Stockheath and Sebastian Fox attracted media attention in 2012. He denied having used a pseudonym after entering parliament and, in 2014, threatened legal action against a constituent who had stated on Facebook that he had. In February 2015, he told LBC Radio: "I don't have a second job and have never had a second job while being an MP. End of story."[27]

In March 2015, Shapps said he had made an error in his interview with LBC and was "mistaken over the dates" of his outside employment. He said he had "over-firmly denied" having a second job. David Cameron defended Shapps, saying he had made a mistake and it was time to "move on".[28][29][30] In March 2015, Dean Archer, the constituent previously threatened with legal action by Shapps, threatened Shapps with legal action.[31][32]

I see poor old County Road in Liverpool is being targeted by the far right again. In case anyone is in doubt it isn't the local community behind this and it isn't an 'anti-immigration' protest. It's meant to intimidate anyone who dares stand up against fascism.

I was lucky enough to attend 2 brilliant gigs this week. Wednesday was the great Jon Boden and the Remnant Kings at the 4th Wall in Oxford and yesterday the totally wonderful Unthanks at the little theatre in Chipping Norton. (Both with community singing opportunities 🥰).

My granddaughter's requested viewing after school today. She has bigger balls than I do - this terrified me when I was a child. And she watches it in German with English subtitles she can't read as she's only 4. 🤣

For what it's worth I find the militaristic The King's Army a bloody site more terrifying and threatening than a random collection of local people praying together in an informal way, whichever God it is they're praying to.

Looking at these numbers makes Trump's behaviour towards Denmark even more revolting.
Chart giving numbers for all NATO and other countries losses in Afganistan per Million of the population. Denmark took losses only marginally lower than the USA.

Hello. I'm late, sorry. This is part of my garden, east of Oxford, England. Photo taken a couple of days ago, still looking good I think. In some ways even more lovely at this time of year. I've only had a proper garden for a few years - I'm still learning. #GardensHour
Part of garden designed to have a tropical look but at the end of the season and a grey sky.
