⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ in absolute awe of last nights performances in Doubt: A Parable. The suspense, conflicts, structure of the play was performed with such conviction. The beautiful simplicity yet menacing size of the set design by Worrall & how it moved the story along is the best I’ve seen in a long time. 👏

Currently in Berlin and came across a retrospective of the Turkish painter and opera singer Semiha Berksoy who I love. She had her first leading role as an actress in the first Turkish sound movie in 1931.

Finally got around to watching Death on the Nile (1978). I loved how camp the characters were and the slight unconventional pacing of the film. Bette Davis, Maggie Smith, Jane Birkin, Mia Farrow, Angela Lansbury…has there been a stellar female cast as brilliant as this in cinema since? #filmsky

One of my most memorable trips was when I discovered a retrospective of David Lynch’s paintings at HOME Manchester. I was there for a gig & it was perfectly timed. Can’t imagine many people got the opportunity to see his paintings up close since. He loved the city for its industrial history. 📸: Me

You just can’t come close to the art style of Yoshiaki Kawajiri’s anime masterpieces. I despise modern day anime, we definitely peaked in the early 2000s. 1. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust 2. Wicked City 3. Demon City 4. Ninja Scroll #anime #filmsky #cinema #film

Shame Russ Meyer’s estate is preventing labels from releasing his films or charging extortionate licensing fees. That’s the only explanation I have. Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965) needs a blu-ray release. I only have the dvd released by Arrow around 2005. #filmsky #film #cinema

Just finished Still Wakes The Deep (PS5). Genuinely one of the best voice acting I’ve heard in a video game in years. Living in Scotland, the characters were so believable and the patter was spot on. Absolutely terrifying at times too with brilliant storytelling and immersive gameplay.

My next cinema experience will most likely be Egger’s Nosferatu. Do I think we needed another version? No. Do I think it’s going to be great. Yes. I prefer F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu but I do love Herzog’s homage to the original. He manages to capture an element of German Expressionism throughout.
