One time my brother got lazy and overstoked the cast iron stove. It glowed orange and melted its temperature sensor. We hadda open all the windows in a harsh New England winter because the house was fuckin’ tropical.

The crisis of the late 70s is why my parents opted for us to heat the house with a coal stove in the early 80s. We had a big-ass bin of coal in the garage every winter.
