Every day, plants - big and small - use water and the energy from the sun to regulate our climate and keep us cool. All plants do this, from a slender blade of grass to a towering beech tree. We can grow new plants and look after the ones we already have. We can grow more and cut less.

To mow or not to mow? 🌱 We tested it on Stu's lawn (sorry, Stu 😬). Mowing stresses grass and reduces its ability to cope with heat and drought. During dry spells, grass naturally slows or stops growing, so leaving it a little longer keeps it greener and healthier. #Drought #Heatwave #ClimateAct
Same image as before, this time with a caption reading, "Heat + mowing = dead lawn."Same image as before, this time with a caption reading, "The brown stripes were mown 5 days ago The longer grass is lovely and green."Same image as before, this time with a caption reading, "When we mow grass, we stress it out, meaning it can struggle to recover especially when you chuck in a long time without water."Same image as before, this time with a caption reading, "So pop the mower away for a bit until we get some rain, your grass will thank you for it."

Want a simple way to stay cooler and help the climate? Let your garden grow. Plants cool themselves through transpiration, releasing water vapour that cools the air around them—like tiny natural air conditioners. So plant more, mow less, and let your garden do its thing. #CollectiveClimateRepair
A graphic of a sun, inside the sun it says: "It's hot. Again. We've all been hearing the same tips and tricks to cool down, but have you heard this? Cool tips (part one)".Two photos side by side of thermometers. One is pointing at plants and says 25.7 degrees. The second is pointing at bare soil, it's display says 43.1 degrees.A photo of some wildflowers under the trees with the words "plant more plants!" written on the bottom.A photo of some wildflowers with the words, "plants are cooling by shading and transpiring. It’s Dementia Action Week and we know that for many people living with dementia in Cornwall, getting outside simply doesn’t happen without support. Often no car. No nearby family. No group that fits. This week’s Walk and Laugh group @Cotehele was closer to “can’t walk because laughing too much!"

Boardwalks and bridges can connect us to nature, but poor design can turn them into barriers. Slippery surfaces, uneven boards, or steep inclines hinder access. Thoughtful design and maintenance ensure safe, inclusive outdoor experiences. 🌿💚 #InclusiveDesign #AccessibleTrails #SustainableDesign
Width: consider the width of connecting paths, level of use, location and whether it will be one or two-way. A min clear width of 200cm will allow for two-way traffic with no need for passing places.Boards must be laid at right angles to the direction of travel, otherwise, wheels or mobility canes may become caught between them.To permit drainage, lay the deck with gaps between the individual boards. The gap between boards should not be greater than 12mm.Boardwalks should have edging at a minimum of 75mm high that acts as an important wheel stop for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and an indicator for blind and partially sighted people.
