This morning even my kids asked if we could do nothing today, if that tells you anything about how restful our holiday has been. 😭

I am “didn’t realize it was NYE until around 3:00pm today and even then just went about my day” years old.

Yall. My husband didn’t know. He didn’t know. 🥺 And he said just now, “I guess there’s only one politician I’ll ever trust and that’s Jimmie Carter.” I thought he was saying that because he knew but … he didn’t. 😭

I am rewatching Making a Murderer again for the hundredth time because anxiety and I decided to look up where Ken Kratz is now. Imagine my absolute unsurpise to find him on X and learn that he’s a very loud Trump supporter.

Two pampered, coddled, unqualified white billionaire men played a game of “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours”, and anyone is shocked that it’s turned into reneging, name-calling, and hysterical temper tantrums right in front of our eyes?

Some days, I am the ever-patient mom inventing new ways for me and the kids to have quality time together. Other days, I am taking them to a movie purely so that I can have two hours to covertly scroll my phone without hearing the hey mommies and getting out of my seat 10,000 times.

My six-year-old daughter just said, “but mommy, wait a minute. I don’t think Santa’s elves really makes the toys for Christmas, because I saw all the toys I wanted in the store BEFORE Christmas.” And I can honestly say that in my almost forty years I had never examined it from that angle.

And just like that, the Christmas crap that took me weeks to get *just so* is down and put away. God I feel better. 😅 It was great while it lasted. But it felt so good to see it go.

Good morning to all the parents who meticulously planned every last Christmas detail only discover this morning that you missed several of the most important ones and now it feels Iike you might as well have waited until today to do ALL of it.

Apparently we’re supposed to hold our fork in our left hand and our knife in our right. Tonight I learned that my left hand does not know where my mouth is.

Dear @netflix.com On behalf of the chronically anxious, I humbly beseech you to create a home page category called, “Shows You Watch for Comfort.” The category is just a collection of the shows we have watched over 20 times. I know it doesn’t make sense but trust me here.

Me, an author, googling “bear witness or bear witness” literally every single time.

Very niche audience this one will reach but I was just feeding my bearded dragon a horn worm and the horn worm grabbed him instead of him grabbing it and now we’re all traumatized.

Two authors with Capricorn stelliums determined to record a podcast episode while one is having a massive power outage and the other is surviving on DayQuil alone is the most Capricorn stellium thing I know of. But here we are.

I have given talks all around the world presenting my research in front of some of the top minds in my field. And yet, I am so anxious going on someone else’s social media Live show. Some skills do not translate. 🥴

Good morning to everyone except whoever rolled out Google Passkey. I’m not saying it’s a stupid feature, but it makes me feel stupid. And for that I resent it.

Somehow, my children came to think that their bedtime is an hour earlier than it actually is. They just now came to ask if they could extend their bedtime by one hour to … their normal bedtime. So after a lot of arguing and emphatically saying I’m putting my foot down, I let them talk me into it.

When we find that our families, workplaces, or communities don’t share our values—what do we do? Do we go no contact with them? Or do we continue trying to educate and pursuade from within? www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/comp...

Should I Stay or Should I Go?
Feminist progress relies on both exit and voice: Leaving unjust spaces signals change while staying fosters trust. Together, they create a balanced strategy for lasting impact.

No surprise that Walmart announced their DEI policy changes after we learned of their tariff-related price increases. They know their target shopper will buy overpriced eggs as long as they don’t have to see Black, queer, or disabled people there. Because, obviously, it was never about the eggs.

You are allowed to experience and express joy, even in times of tribulation and grief. Please don’t deprive yourself of happy moments, of glimmers of light. They’ll guide you through the darkness.

I posted a Reel yesterday but that said “reading is resistance” & reminded people to buy books from Indy bookstores, buy and read banned books, and books by marginalized authors. This was a reply. What saddens is that I genuinely don’t think they realize what they’re saying but not saying.

Are we Millennials the new Boomers who can’t figure out how social media works? I’ve been doing social media since MySpace and somehow I’m still confused by how this app works.

Well hello! I am a queer feminist cognitive psychologist who writes for Psychology Today and wrote a book all about the kind of self-care the patriarchy would prefer women not know about. Happy to meet you!
