Harvard just dropped a study AI productivity in software engineering and it found the average increase in productivity from using Claude code is.....zero and for exactly the reasons you'd think fion.ac/jellyfish.pdf

Working on a blog post right now that might not ever see the light of day. Perhaps it just belongs in a journal. Still though — extremely cathartic to just write and vent.

I can confidently say that the best gift you can give a new parent that drinks coffee is an Ember mug (or similar). The amount of times I've had to reheat my coffee every morning for the past few months is wild. And yeah, insulated mugs are a thing but not a fan of metal drink containers.

Well you see, it all started back a long time ago when one guy heard someone else speak and thought that person sounded smarter than him and his wittle ego got hurt. Thus began the cycle. Or it's all a masking technique for people who have no idea what they're talking about. Yeah...one of those 😆

I literally couldn’t sleep last night and was up until 1 AM. The thing that finally me tired? Knocking out a few hundred words on a blog I’m working on and jotting down some todos. Better than melatonin.

Getting back to writing and journaling again ✍️ A great deal of my stress comes from having a lot of ideas, knowledge, grievances, etc, and not sharing them or at the very least, just getting it out of my head.

Started back on a strength + mobility training program this week after being sick for a week and holy shit am I feeling it 3 days in. Also, it has been super difficult to meet my macros. I'm just not a big eater to begin with.

How we talk about things is so important. Love the suggestions and am looking forward to using them! Unfortunately, I’m reminded of how prevalent war idioms have been in the business world too (blitz, war room, rally the troops, capture markets, etc) and how much that influences actions.

My favorite thing about the internet? When I order something from a website and then I get nothing but ads on every site and app trying to sell me that exact thing like I didn’t just buy it. Super cool 10/10 online experience 😎

Been rocking the old LG Ultrafine 4ks since 2019. My office is bright and the screen glare has been horrible. So, I bit the bullet on the nano-texture Studio Display. First monitor upgrade in 7 years…

One thing I don’t really think about when planning to have a baby was how much it would play into my gear head/research tendencies. So many crazy gadgets, gear, toys, and information to research. Half of it seems completely unnecessary but still fun nonetheless.

I looked at Sherco, Husky/KTM, Yamahas but this short king just can't do a 37" seat and there's no lowering I could do that would make me feel confident in technical terrain.

Been a few years back riding and while the majority of my bikes have been 4-strokes, I think I'm about to get my first 2-stroke, starting with the Xtrainer. I've learned I really enjoy the slow, technical riding and not the fast, open throttle riding that will break all your bones when you crash.

1600 people. Feels so indiscriminate and cruel. You already know the justifications used. I’m supposed to simultaneously be excited about this new “ground-breaking technology” and be sad and upset that it’s taking peoples’ careers, and scared that it’s coming for mine.

Having a manager that advocates for you, knows your strengths, and pushes you to grow is so amazing, and it's unfortunate that's so rarely the case. Lot of bullshit going on in the world right nowm but I had a big personal win this week — a promotion I worked toward for last year+ went through 😁

I just got done watching a truly horrible movie at Sundance ("The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist"). It was introduced by the Sundance programming rep as having "a strong sense of informational integrity", but it's hard to imagine a characterization more off the mark. A long thread 🧵>>

People keep talking about "AI" impact on individual productivity but productivity is by its nature usually an aggregate measure affected by multiple variables. It's almost always a high-level measure. Most "AI" studies I've seen are pretending that it can be measured in detail for each person 1/

Finally decided to upgrade my devices a few days ago. Unfortunately everything I've seen and read online is true: Liquid Glass is full of some of the worst UI decisions. There are maybe a handful of IA changes that I believe to be much better, but they are overshadowed by everything else.

Super annoying how limited Framer's CMS is for certain things. They've also had a feature request to password protect individual pages for YEARS and it seems like they've completely ignored that feedback from customers.
