Maybe, it would really be confusing who Susan was. Just as long as you skip Prelandra the worse Narnia book.

Aaron @semprevagant.bsky.social · 14/10/2026

When I read the Magicians Nephew it explained so much of the lore of Narnia that was assumed in the other books. I think reading Narnia are like Reese’s, “there is no wrong way to consume them”

Listen, a real Tolkien fan knows you start with “The Fall of Gondolin” and “The Voyage of Éarendal the Evening Star” and then go to “ There and back Again” in the original Klingon. Psycho smh.

Welp, elections are happening in Spain. I told my daughter, who is Spanish, I’d help her figure out how to vote from the US where she is studying, and thought I’d have Christmas to figure it out with her. But not now. If anyone has advice, let me know.

News outlet is generous. It shares information about the Southern Baptist Convention but is not independent of the executive leadership so is usually spun positively.

I’ve been saving this meme for years and I finally get to use it.

A photo of Marie Antoinette saying Let them eat lentils. Nobody said this would be fun.”

Sitting at the neighborhood bar waiting for the game to start. My 10 year old is mad I wouldn’t let her get snare drum with the Spanish flag.

Like in one sense he’s not wrong. He tried to overthrow the peaceful transfer of power. So because he broke the law, he was targeted. But being targeted because you are seditious, doesnt seem like something you can claim to be a victim for. It would be different if he was found not guilty.

How does a dishwasher consent? You are clearly thinking like someone who has not watched all the terminator and matrix movies and realized that when the singularity comes you want to be seen as the polite and kind human. You would think I’m joking, but I read a white paper on this topic.

I think this just goes to show that no one wants to do those mind numbing type of tasks including robots. If you aren’t willing to do something, why would you force a robot to do it?

I always assumed he was homeschooled and as someone who was homeschooled in the same era, there were always those families where the children were never taught and actively trying to not learn. I also assumed he was one of those kids.

Fair enough, it’s just so hard to choose one thing because it feels like there are so many. For me, Citizens United feels huge and the rise of the billionaire tech bros into politics.

030 0

Aaron @semprevagant.bsky.social · 14/05/2026

I don’t think you can pick one thing. It has been a slow slide. Citizens United fundamentally changed US elections, the invasion of Iraq changed perception on military interventions, going back to Reagan changing the idea that government is an inept force instead of the voice of the people.
