Item ID: 000.001- Forgotten Blade

Our staff has recently conjured a odd sword made from copper alloy and a sort of unknown matter. It seems to stem from some long lost order. After some research we figured out that the blade was crafted from a poisonous gemstone, efficient against foes, but cursed to eventually kill it's wielder. Note to staff: Inform the future wielder about the risk.

The weapon is a +2 scimitar with magical properties.

Damage:

1d6 (self)

1d12 (?d12) poison (later changes to necrotic)

Damage Type:

Poison (later changes to necrotic)

Properties:

Finesse, Light

Requires attunement:

Yes

Magical:
Yes

Unattuning requires to get rid of the sword, which halts the progression of the curse and resets the stats of the sword. However, only a Greater Restoration or a Wish can free, you, it's bearer from the lasting damage.

(A use of Greater Restoration also resets the stats of the sword.)

If the curse reduces you to 0 hp, your body dies and your soul is absorbed by the blade. Only Wish can restore youir soul to your body, in which case you would return to life, unattuned to the sword.

Alternatively, you may take on the curse willingly. Then, instead of an occasional constitution save, you may use a bonus action and chose how many dice of damage you take onto yourself, empowering the sword by the same amount.
