Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 29/09/2026Works fine for me. Checked: 1) Firefox, Chrome, Edge on desktop 2) Firefox, Chrome on Android 3) with a VPN with NL IP 4) with http instead of https 5) with www 6) with `ping` in the terminal 010
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 20/09/2026Yup, I click on the "View publication" button every time assuming it will open the article. A CTA isn't needed at all. 020
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 19/09/2026As someone who moderated a tech-focused community for several years, it took me a while to develop the sense to drop my usual nuance-focused thinking, And be more prompt in acting against disruptors acting in bad faith, particularly politically. Such users don't respond to tact. 051
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 19/09/2026Kudos for taking a stand. I'm reminded of this quote by Charles Bukowski: "The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence." 1110
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 31/07/2026I expect the mobile layout to be suboptimal. My smartphone's display is not great, so I'm unable to test it properly. Use desktop for best experience. My favorite part is being able to view the Youtube talks in embedded form. The list of talks are all thanks to sveltesociety's website. 000
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 31/07/2026Really happy to share something I whipped up today to pay tribute to Svelte Summits from 2020 to 2025 organized by @sveltesociety.dev 😃 svsummit26.semaphores.dev I put together some notable social media posts and the YouTube talks from each summit, so you can peek at the highlights from one place.svsummit26.semaphores.devSvelte Summit — Ten Summits, One CommunityA scrollytelling recap of every past Svelte Summit, from the first online edition in 2020 to Ljubljana 2026. 352
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 27/07/2026@mikehall314.bsky.social gave a talk few months ago at State of the Browser 2026 about developing websites that still worked for slow connections and devices. It was my favorite one at the conference: 2026.stateofthebrowser.com/speaker/mike... 120
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 27/07/2026Minimalism is underrated. My smartphone is old and slow now, so visiting most sites on it is a pain. My home broadband went down for 2 weeks recently, leaving me on mobile hotspot. During that time, I really appreciated sites that used less data and didn't have pointless bloat. 120
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 25/07/2026Had a ton of fun making my first slide deck using Animotion (by @joyofcode.xyz). It's at movie-slideshow.semaphores.dev Even used customizable select on the last page, which is my favorite part! (you do need Chrome to see that) Used Svelte MCP as usual, as well as Google's Modern Web Guidance.movie-slideshow.semaphores.devAnimotion 050
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 23/07/2026Seems like another case of irresponsible headline wording by The Guardian. The actual article starts with, "The owner of British Gas has claimed that most households would rather speak with an AI chatbot than deal with the company’s staff" But the rest of the piece has no such quote from the owner. 010
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 21/07/2026Are you also thinking of any new features? I was looking at reveal.js docs yesterday while learning Animotion, and noticed a couple things that were exposed directly in revealjs that didn't have a direct equivalent in Animotion. Like setting background images to slides iirc. 100
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 21/07/2026Funnily enough, this comment seems to have been reposted by a bot. 🤣 010
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 21/07/2026Look up the accounts on clearsky.app. Particularly, the "Lists on" tab. I blocked one of the accounts in your list for randomly interacting with my comments in a bot-like manner. 111
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 13/07/2026Note: you need to have Animation effects enabled in Windows settings (or your equivalent OS setting) to see this site properly. 😊 010
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 26/06/2026The lazy lazy loaded images offsetting the scroll is also happening. Separate from the just staying at the top. I did a screen recording. The first time, it stays at the top. The second time, it scrolls down but not fully, presumably due to the images. 110
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 25/06/2026The #discussions anchor isn't actually working smoothly. The first time I opened the page, it just stayed at the top instead of scrolling to the discussions section. Not sure if anything can be done about it, since it's presumably due to that section not being in the DOM on initial load. 120
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 24/05/2026So what you are saying is that you are not a bot. inconceivable! 010
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 22/05/2026As much as I value LLMs for providing quick answers, but they have indeed made a mockery of intellectual property. And I don't even mean IP in the sense of making money from it, because I'm in the open-source camp. But simply giving credit to the experts who wrote that piece of knowledge. 080
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 22/05/2026Ah haha, that makes sense. I thought it was a weird hallucination by an agent. 😄 110
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 22/05/2026Heads up: The URL in the about section links to github.com/my-pi.dev instead of my-pi.dev 110
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 21/05/2026Well-written piece. Particularly the point about British media engaging more in gossip than policy. I'm quite disappointed with the daily drama and pedantry perpetrated by the news outlets here -- outlets on both sides of the aisle btw. Serious policy discussions are a thing of the past, it seems. 000
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 17/05/2026"The same feature that helps a sophomore learn React works for a senior engineer learning Rust. You just have to be willing to feel like a beginner again." Solid quote. I always subscribe to the philosophy of "Be brave enough to be the dumbest person in the room". 020
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 12/05/2026So you're told to just ignore it, like the suggestion to teenagers to handle bullies. But it only makes these aggressions persist on a daily basis, and the effect compounds. 020
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 12/05/2026From what I've heard from female friends, the toughest to deal with are the microaggressions — they are subtle and not quite overt. They're not quite severe enough to draw action from the organization. 110
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 09/05/2026On a related note, bluesky really needs an edit feature! I made two typos above and feel like an idiot lol. 100
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 09/05/2026My hope is that educational institutions get better equipped over time to deal with non-traditional biologies. The world is massive and different people can excel at different things. 100
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 09/05/2026seems in how badly you had it in school years. It wasn't until I well into adulthood that I found out I am what is called a Highly Sensitive Person (www.verywellmind.com/highly-sensi...). The book about it goes into so much detail about the kinds of thing HSPs are amazing at. 100
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 09/05/2026In the same way, people whose brains work differently get treated poorly right now, but that may not be the case in 2050 when we have developed better understanding of how to develop such people in their formative years. I try to remind myself of the above when thinking of how unfair the world 110
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 09/05/2026Humans are the only beings that are able to built on centuries of past knowledge. Many pieces of scientific knowledge, particularly about the human body, that we take for granted today would have gotten you laughed at 200 years ago. 110
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 06/05/2026Isn't this like blaming HTML for every site looking the same. Tailwind at this point is just syntax, not an opinionated design system. I'd argue that it's more the usage of templates and UI libraries with default settings that result in all sites looking the same. 020
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 06/05/2026Gotta give him props for using the three dots instead of em dash though! 000
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 30/04/2026Some great points by @jakearchibald.com. LLMs are threatening to reverse the neutral nature of the web. Decentralization is one of the key strengths of the web. In addition, system prompts getting coupled with the model you're using is a leaky abstraction and can make it a poor user experience. 0180
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 17/04/2026On my way to Kensington Hall, London to attend #CityJS. Really pumped for the talks, especially the one by @rich-harris.dev 010
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 12/04/2026Nice! I use squoosh right now. Some rare file extensions there. Never heard of images having literally .ycbcr or .yuv extension before. The video section looks to be missing some mainstream extensions like .h265/.hevc. The audio section could add .mka, which is the audio equivalent of .mkv. 010
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 08/04/2026It's 20°C in the UK today ☀️🌅 Supposedly the warmest it will be for a while. Too bad it's a weekday and you can't go out to enjoy the warmth until after 6. 010
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 31/03/2026Reactionary responses devoid of any nuance are pretty much a norm on big social media platforms these days. It's an unavoidable side effect of the democratization of the proverbial megaphone. 010
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 16/03/2026Did you play it recently? I just played it and got the leaderboard at the end of the game. 121
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 15/03/2026What's My JND? 0.0035 (Hard Mode) Can you beat it? www.keithcirkel.co.uk/whats-my-jnd... 020
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 12/03/2026It's a whole series, not one model. I bought a used one from ebay for £200, which I thought was quite decent. 110
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 10/03/2026www.keithcirkel.co.uk/whats-my-jnd... I have a pretty good Dell Ultrasharp monitor, which surely helped with it. 2150
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 20/02/2026Pretty good piece of journalism. Interesting how the 2003 Iraq ghosts reduced the Americans' and Brits' credibility this time around. But while reading the story, I wondered several times whether Russia's mind (to invade) was made up at any one instance, or did they go back and forth. 000
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 17/02/2026Oh damn, this looks cool. I've built a couple of docs sites with mkdocs-material before. Had no idea they had built a new tool with a more modern stack. 010
Pushkar S @semaphores.dev · 17/02/2026This is pretty cool, especially the "Open Source Contributions" section with the number of PRs and commits. 000
