I knew the Duo had a smaller camera sensor (rumor is similar to 17e), whatever, I'm used to the iPhone Air, but I didn't realize how small that would mean. That's closer to the iPhone 6 than the Air (Rumor might be wrong, and there's been more advancements than just sensor size)
Comparison graphic showing the relative physical sizes of four smartphone camera sensors on a dark background. From smallest to largest: iPhone 6 at 4.9 × 3.7 mm, iPhone 17e (possibly iPhone Duo) at 5.6 × 4.2 mm, iPhone Air at 8.0 × 6.0 mm, and iPhone 18 Pro at 9.76 × 7.32 mm. Each sensor is represented by a proportionally scaled colored rectangle, illustrating the substantial increase in sensor size across the models.

Shame the Duo lacks an action button, going to try to train myself to use that back tap feature instead in the meantime

Anyone else been totally unable to get the iPhone 18 Pro's triple live activity thing working in the dynamic island on the simulator? Only ever shows two for me

Went with mom to pick up an EV5 (her first electric vehicle) and gotta say, it's a really impressive vehicle. Unfortunate the US isn't getting this, it sits really nicely between the EV3 and EV9 and has some stuff I'm jealous of with Rivian

Tip: if you're like me and updating your Apple TV to tvOS 27 made every HomeKit device unresponsive, sign out of your Apple account on the TV, reboot, sign back in, and it should be fixed

Was curious how much the 17 Pro and 18 Pro differed in size. Gonna guess not much if the Apple Store is installing 17 Pro screen protectors on the 18 😆

Does Jev support multimodal input? Could you give it a photo of someone's face and request it to identify if they're happy, sad, or neutral?

Codex needs a setting like "if I haven't interacted with you in 2 hours and there's an update you want to install just do it". Love the updates but seems like there's always one

Any pics of MagSafe attaching to the Duo? Curious how that looks/where the magnet is positioned, will determine which batteries can attach to it

I'm confused, I thought the EV6 was more of a car? The EV5 looks more like SUV to SUV?

Hyundai Ioniq 5 or KIA EV5 and why? (R2 isn't available in Canada and don't want a Tesla)

Forgot my phone at IKEA, went back to a few employees passing it back and forth going "it's so thin what the heck" The iPhone Air isn't a perfect phone but times like that make it worth it

Yeah, they're super nice for having your light's color temperature adjust over the course of the day, so you have nice sunlight color at noon in rooms and then warmer light as you get closer to bed

If Lutron supported smart bulbs (it's 2026!) I'd almost certainly just go with them

Took the common recommendation and got the Inovelli White smart switch. Beautiful and love the LED bar, but the paddle sometimes doesn't respond, seems like an unfortunately wide spread issue (and a dealbreaker) for such an expensive switch. Zooz next? community.inovelli.com/t/consider-...

Ah no, I admittedly (outside of vision issues) am curious how the light itself isn’t just the better indicator of that?

Thats awesome to know, dang I was hoping I was wrong about the second part though

Lutron’s is close, but I don’t want more battery things to manage, and don’t love that the whole button seemingly isn’t pressable just the middle

Haha I know what you mean we had them growing up too but just seemed normal

It’s… a big button. Press it 😛

As far as smart home light switches go, why aren't rotary dials more common in North America? Obvious on/off toggle, can't get "out of sync", even easier dimming than paddles, long-press actions, etc. Is there a downside beyond convention? (I'm aware of Lutron's janky one)
Rotary dimmer switch, just a circular button you can press or rotate

A lot of mills add a substantial amount of microplastics to whatever you're eating which I'd rather avoid nutrition-evidence.com/article/5484... Even the ones with metal grinders have had plastic internal bits break off and get ground into your dinner: www.commentreparer.com/73330/Appare...

hahaha you got it figured out!

Christian Selig @selig.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
It's so nice but so expensive and loses a few points for not being *entirely* plastic free

Christian Selig @selig.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
Yeah but we're doing a new build and I'd rather build something from the get-go that doesn't require ongoing battery replacements at every light fixture :/

Looking to avoid batteries as much as possible but that is cool!

Totally agree on local, trying to make sure everything is Matter over Thread. How do you have the Shellys configured and how do you like the Aqara switches? Also why both?
