Since I blocked about a dozen creepers, bigots, violent people, extreme MAGA, grifters, suspected criminals, and arch-trolls… STO Zone chat has been more palatable but it is sometimes hard not to know what the rogues gallery is up to just to protect against it. Double edged sword sigh.

Yeah I honestly don't know how the PC Community is, there are A LOT more people over on PC, and I know a lot of cool people are over there just from socials. But yes, cis males do generally avoid a few issues that women and trans women might encounter. Though not all.

I don't how Star Trek Online is on PC, but on PS5 there's plenty of great players, but also just a cadre of miscreants that really show themselves during Risa. Some downright creepy. I'm sure this is not a STO specific problem. But it remains the strangest thing to find them in a Trek game.
