Finally beat Ace Combat 8. Been playing these games since 4 as a kid on the PS2 and god damn if 8 isn't the best story they've ever done. Insane missions. Awesome characters. Actual sincerity in the story and dialogue. It was nice to see a game that just decided "what if we go all in on feels".

I think we might see a rise in local/regional cons again like we had in the mid 00s. But the second word gets out about a good one, they might get SWARMED the next year. AnthroOhio had a 53% increase in a single year. That's CRAZY for a small con to prepare for!

Grew up in rural Tx, exactly this except replace Chicago with Houston. It's always someone elses fault, they are upstanding citizens having their tax money wasted, but they deserve handouts for all the bad things the cities foist on them. Also they can't figure out why their kids won't call anymore.

The situation with FurAffinity is pretty amazing. Advertisers threatened their advertising revenue because they considered Plus Sized characters and characters HUGGING to be adult content. So FA said fuck off, and in two days raised their entire yearly funding. Advertisers are so bullshit stupid.

Only 6 months unfortunately (well, 7 with how much it's gone over so far). At 25k a month the donations are covering the next 6 months so far. Hopefully people keep donating though! I expect (and hope) the fandom makes this a big annual donation drive like Wikipedia uses to keep FA corpo free.

I really really hope FA makes a bi-annual donation drive similar to Wikipedia and other sites entirely reliant on their users. FA is massively important to the fandom, and keeping corpos out of it is crucial to that. As long as they continue to act in good faith, the fandom should help w/ the bills.
