Almost every human rights system, global and regional, recognizes the power of youth, but it stays on paper, since participation remains tokenistic and young people are still left out of the decisions that affect them. #RealParticipation #HumanRights www.ohchr.org/en/documents...

Many in here are disgusted, surprised etc by this but I can’t see why? Capitalism expects nothing less - impartial, non-moral following of profit as main and sole goal of those who engage

A lot of this rings true with me, the conversations I've had with my mates and my brother, some of these pretty much verbatim. This is really a story about the everyday removal of collective public assets and spaces from the people who use and value them www.theguardian.com/football/202...

The Met has imposed conditions on tomorrows planned student march - it’s not clear to me why/how banning face coverings that conceal identity will necessarily reduce risk of serious disruption - the legal test is serious disruption TO THE LIFE OF THE community not serious disruption to the community

I know this isn’t the point but if you’re making it up, at least use a biblically sound period - 40 days, and 40 nights, the week it took to create the world, coming back from heaven on the third day 18 days is just a fortnight holiday with travel day or so built in either side

It’s not simply FPTP that creates a concern but that in a constitutional democracy premised on parliamentary sovereignty, it’s a double whammy …Parliament being able to pass whatever law it likes but with seats - and a majority - bearing no necessary relationship to popular vote

Presumably it would be legally possible - politically fraught - to devise a triple lock rule that ensures it for those whose for whom it’s the only or major source of post retirement income but removes it if in receipt of £££s of private/work pension??

What is the annual value of the triple lock to a pensioner Not how much has the pension gone up over a year but what is/would be the marginal loss in ££s of only using (say) inflation not RPI?

But always be careful what you wish for A trigger premised on who is protesting or what cause - from what ‘wing’ - is unlikely to be held as lawful so it would apply to whomever, to those we like and those we oppose

Intimidatory purpose is already a trigger in s12 POA 1986 for police to impose what could be quite strenuous conditions Currently cannot kick start a ban - only reasonable belief that there might be serious public disorder
