As far as the OoT remake goes, I liked the way it looked in darker areas. The big problem is lighting and water. The moment a single ray of sunlight or a speck of water touches any character, their skin and hair transforms into plastic, looking just as shiny as all the metallic textures around them.

It's likely because I mostly play games favoring style over realism, but the GTA 6 trailer had a slightly uncanny valley feel for me. It's graphically impressive, yet it focuses so much on looking real that I in turn end up focusing on details which make it still very much look like a video game.

I can say this especially from personal experience but you cannot be a AA or indie developer and be unaware the playerbase you're selling to will drop you in a heartbeat for using genAI. it's an impossible fact to avoid — one I KNOW your art, writing, n QA depts have been yelling to you for years

I watched Dark City from 1998 and it completely falls apart if you stop to question how anything actually works or why the antagonists don't just do X, but it's such a creative movie in terms of visuals and concepts that I had a great time just going along with it.

I finished Mina the Hollower and I liked it, but I wish I loved it. It's a generally fun game with a few frustrating parts. On a related note, Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is a phenomenal Zelda-like game starring an anthropomorphic animal wielding a whip-like object and it's 50% off on Steam.

I finished Myst 5 and with that I have finally completed every Myst game. I unfortunately have very few nice things to say about 5, it's easily the worst of them. Noloben had a solid puzzle I suppose. Otherwise, there's a shocking amount of talking for a Myst game and too much pixel hunting.

I finally finished Uru! I like how much of a messy, weird time capsule it is and several of the locations are truly incredible to look at and wander around in. On the other hand, multiple puzzles in Path of the Shell in particular severely disrespect the player's time.

Thinking back on the Myst series, so many of the puzzles exist because Atrus is the father from Gremlins except with a novelty safe fixation. Sunken ship? It's a safe. Giant decorative gear? Another safe. The fireplace in his house *and* the one on the family vacation island? Basically safes.

Idle games are neat because you can gradually chip away at them, making numbers go up by clicking things in various ways over the course of several months, and then an entire RPG combat system will materialize out of nowhere.

Ok, Uru has definitely been less janky than I was led to believe except for one very infamous jump where I clipped through a platform ~10 times before landing on it properly and one particular ladder my character keeps phasing through near the top.
