OK, after a back-and-forth first half, the Aces close out strong and lead by 6 at halftime. Still anyone's game, though. Come on, Aces, let's go! I don't want to talk about Sophie Cunningham anymore. #WNBA

Honestly I think best-of-three is too fast for a playoff series, but Dream/Liberty is going to be fantastic! Good thing the semifinals are best-of-five. #wnba

The Taiping Suspension Bridge in Meishan Township is maybe a bit of a tourist trap: you have to buy a ticket to walk across it. But it was included in our trip to Pingxi so why not? The view was spectacular and it connects to a nice hiking trail. #hiking #Taiwan

This might be our last train trip out of Tainan Station. Next month the station, and the lines from Daqiao to Dalin Road will go underground. The change eliminates 23 level crossings. I think the historic station building will be preserved. #Taiwan

An orange train pulling into a station, and the platform is showing signs of wear.

"...has forced many in Taiwan to rethink their attitude toward China." Oh? How many? Sloppy. What a disgrace that the Atlantic prints this propaganda. One thing I've learned about the Taiwanese is that just giving up is not a custom here. Suggested reading: Ghost Nation by @heguisen.bsky.social

Taiwan may be small, but its economy isn’t. With a GDP of US$976.7 billion (IMF, 2026), only a handful of European countries have a larger economy. Taiwan’s global influence extends well beyond semiconductors. Did any country on this map surprise you? #Taiwan #Europe #GDP #Maps

Wow! The Sky finally win a close game, and what a finish by Sydney Taylor! This is such a great story. In a few months she went from undrafted rookie, to training camp contract, to bench contributor, to starter, and now to star of the show! #wnba www.espn.com/wnba/story/_...

Sydney Taylor became the first rookie in franchise history to hit a go-ahead 3-pointer in the final five seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime Saturday to beat the defending champion Las Vegas Aces 84-83.

Minority opinion but I like the reflecting pool better with algae. I always heard DC was built on a swamp and I prefer the natural look for bodies of water. Let's re-wild the reflecting pool. Somebody plant some water lilies and cattails.

Sad that everyone I “follow back” on here seems to be a catfisher of some sort. 😢 I always get dms saying like, “hey it looks like we have a lot in common.” That not just a quirky part of Bsky culture, right? I ignore it and they send a follow up that just says “bot?” That’s not normal, right?

"Still cheaper than when Biden was president" Let's unpack that. Biden was president for 208 weeks. For precisely 10 of those weeks (OK, 22 if we adjust for inflation, but still), gas was higher than it is RIGHT NOW; 50 cents more at most. It wasn't a direct result of a dumb decision like this is.

Xi Jinping: “People do not want a new Cold War; they want a world of lasting peace and universal security." He’s not wrong, but that’s rich coming from the country that continually harasses Taiwan. Conquest and suppression of dissent is not a road to durable peace.
