Cracking day at Beamish. Been meaning to visit the 1950s village for ages & we finally had a free Saturday. Fish n’chips, electrical store with a washer my mum had until the 1980s, Formica covered houses & a decent step back in time 1910 pint in the Sun Inn.

Manchester is definitely growing on me - 3rd time I’ve been here in last 12 months & always a decent pint with a bit of Peterloo history, along with a hearty Polish brunch. I’ll be back for the John Ryland library - queue was huge.

Portmeirion is stunning - highly recommend a visit. Traeth Llanddwyn is definitely up there with one of the best beaches in the UK - stunning scenery, history & even hot & sunny. Birdlife bit disappointing tho we’ve missed main breeding season.

First time since we moved into our Sedgie house in 2010 that none of the 6 garden bird boxes have been occupied. Over years we’ve had up to 3 occupants - House Sparw, Great Tit, Blue Tit & Robin. Quite worrying esp as we manage garden for wildlife.

Stunning scenery Steely, on my bucket place, not just for its wildlife but its sad history, both for birds & people. Can recommend both of these reads - both sombre but essential reads.

A potter around the byways of Cockermouth. I do love an old bridge - this one built on 1899 & strangely one the notable names, a JP, scratched out. Some wonderful stonework & sandstone gateposts.
