Also, I figured out that the pool heat pump is actually more efficient than the 1990's central air unit that came with the house. So, I added another heat-exchanger, pump, fan, and a Toyota corolla radiator to the side of my house. And now the heat pump offsets the majority of my air conditioning.

Having said that,the savings are absolutely real. I've managed to eliminate my gas usage in summer (great if you can get on a budget plan), and I actually reduced my electrical demand by about 9% due to the decreased air conditioning load.

Even playing Devil's capitalist, I think pulling money out of the NASDAQ is smart. The share structure makes it incredibly difficult to file an investor suit against SpaceX for the inevitable breach of fiduciary responsibility.

Long term illness fucking sucks. You hold so much in emotionally and physically, that your body treats it like a pseudo normal, and you're constantly on the lookout for the next thing that can hurt you. It's almost a relief when something bad happens, because it validates the guard you've kept.

This absolutely sucks... but the best way ive found to clear a clog is to just get a 5 gallon bucket underneath the sink, unscrew the trap, and just get in there with some gloves. Since you already used Drano, I'd hit it with vinegar so you can neutralize it and work without burning yourself.

They've stopped drilling gas wells in the Permian basin, because the gas is too expensive, and the competition from solar is erasing the demand for more. They can't even order enough turbines to generate electricity because they're all on back order for years.

I still feel the guilt because I can't convince the people around me to change. I can't convince my job to stop burning gas, and despite my efforts I still have measurable negative effects on the environment. This system is broken, and maybe irredeemable, but I tell myself it's not inevitable.

I know how you feel, but you shouldn't blame yourself for not doing enough. Personally, I've tried doing everything I can to decarbonize what I can. I even built my own heat-pump water heater to reduce my natural gas usage. Despite doing everything I can, I still feel that guilt too.

Funny enough, I've done the math on liquid g-couches for a ttrpg setting. The reason liquid immersion works in high g-settings is that the buoyant effect sort of cancels the acceleration.

I think the major problem with the liquid breathing is... it be thiccc. Your diaphragm having to pump a viscous liquid, as opposed air would make breathing physically exhausting. Throw in strenuous physical activity like swimming, or underwater welding, and it feels kind of impractical.

It felt like they never knew what to do with Weir. From the beginning she seemed like a good civilian counterpoint. "Our manifest destiny can't extend across the galaxy." Then it was like, oops we're just gonna war crime our way through a new galaxy, and I'm fine with it.
