Sometimes you just have to stop and look up. Caught this dizzying worm's-eye view of the canopy along Margaret's Way. Pushed the HDR brackets just enough to capture that incredible sunlit glow on the moss. 📸🌿 #NaturePhotography #PNW #SquakMountain #LandscapePhotography
Gaze up into the lush, towering canopy of the Issaquah Alps, where sunlight dances through heavily moss-draped branches in the peaceful forests of Margaret's Way.

Found this incredible, moss-draped sentinel standing guard over the trail today. I love how the dappled mid-day sun hits the trunk like a spotlight, highlighting all that rugged texture against the deep shadows of the woods. 🌲✨ 📍 Margaret's Way, Squak Mountain #PNW #Forest #Hiking #Photography

There is nothing quite like the feeling of standing at the start of a new trail. The wooden stairs of Margaret's Way curving up and disappearing into that dense, sun-dappled green just pull you right in. Ready to hike! 🥾🌲 📍 Squak Mountain, Issaquah Alps #PNW #Hiking #Forest #OptOutside

I find it hard to believe that any Christians will accept Trump’s gaslighting:
Asked about the post Monday afternoon, Trump said he posted it.
“I thought it was me as a doctor, and had to do with Red Cross, as a Red Cross worker, which we support,” Trump said. In the photo, Trump’s clothing is reminiscent of clothing worn in Jesus’ time and does not appear to be an outfit a modern doctor would wear. There is no reference in the photo to the Red Cross.
“It’s supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better,” Trump continued. “And I do make people better. I make people a lot better.”
Trump said “only the fake news” could suggest he was depicting himself as Jesus, ignoring the criticism he received from his own religious supporters.
The president last year posted an image of him as pope that appeared to be AI-generated.President Donald Trump posted to Truth Social on Sunday what appeared to be an AI-generated image depicting him as Jesus.

From Catholic philosopher Edward Feser:
An unspeakably evil threat. Every soldier has the duty to disobey orders to carry this out, every government official has the duty to do whatever is in his power to stop it, every churchmen has the duty to speak out against it, every citizen to resist in any moral way possible.

So-called "absolute creationism" is the view that God creates His own properties. As the image illustrates, the view is viciously circular. This is known as the "Bootstrapping Problem." #philosophy #metaphysics
A cyclical diagram that shows that God cannot create properties without first possessing the property of the power to create, which He would ostensibly have to create.

The popular moral laws require a moral lawgiver argument assumes that morality consists of moral laws. While the idea has intuitive appeal, there are striking dissimilarities between moral norms and legal norms (laws) that are usually glossed over. open.substack.com/pub/secularo...

The attached screenshot is how @kaitlancollins.bsky.social should have interacted with Trump. Context: see link below: nypost.com/2025/06/17/m...
COLLINS: [starts to ask her question] —
TRUMP: Who else has a question other than CNN fake news?
COLLINS:
Mr. President, I understand that criticism is your way of showing strength. But I’m not here to debate media ratings. I’m here to ask about your decision-making as Commander-in-Chief during an international crisis.
TRUMP:
Well, Kaitlan, you’ve always been very unfair — very nasty. Your network lies constantly.
COLLINS:
Sir, I hear that you’re frustrated. And I’m not here to argue with your feelings. But the American people deserve clarity. You told the G7 leaders to evacuate Tehran — then you denied pushing for a cease-fire. President Macron says otherwise. Did you or did you not signal a shift in U.S. posture toward Iran?
TRUMP:
Macron doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He wants headlines. That’s what the French do.
COLLINS:
Then let’s clear it up. You say you’re not seeking a cease-fire — are you actively authorizing military options to escalate?
TRUMP:
We’re not escalating. We’re controlling the situation.
COLLINS:
Respectfully, Mr. President — evacuating Tehran signals imminent risk. If we’re not seeking peace, and we’re not escalating, what are we doing?
TRUMP:
We're being strong. Much stronger than Biden ever was.
COLLINS:
Strong can mean decisive diplomacy. Or it can mean targeted strikes. The public isn’t asking for slogans — they’re asking for consequences. Did you authorize plans to strike Iranian nuclear facilities?
TRUMP:
I don't talk about classified military plans. Never have.
COLLINS:
You did, sir, on Truth Social. You said Iran’s program “won’t survive.” That’s a declarative statement. So again — have you authorized a military path?
TRUMP:
I said what I said. They’re not getting a nuke.
COLLINS:
Last question, sir. You’ve criticized past administrations for “telegraphing moves.” But today, you used a public platform to issue what sounded like a threat. If Iran retaliates, are you prepared to tell the families of U.S. troops that this strategy …

I assume Trump will soon be disbanding the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). In the past, aviation professionals at the NTSB would spend months or years investigating airplane crashes. But Trump can investigate by himself in less than 24 hours. What a bullshitter.

I don't care what trans people call themselves and am happy to use whatever pronouns they prefer. I can't go along with saying that transwomen are as "biologically female" as (cis) women. They don't have female chromosomes, don't produce large gametes, and no surgery or hormones can change that.
Screenshot of tweet/post by Rep Zooey Zephyr, writing, "I literally just got out of meetings with members of Congress & used the bathroom on my way out.

Trans women are women—full stop. We're every bit as "biologically female" as cis women & @SpeakerJohnson 's statement doesn't change the fact that women's spaces include trans women."

Bishop Sheen was wrong. It never seems to have occurred to him that an atheist could be pro-God, i.e., a person could believe that God does not exist *and* hope that God exists.

Here's a relevant and representative excerpt from Taylor:
100
Secular Outpost @secularoutpost.bsky.social · 13/11/2024
I am not certain this is accurate, but I think it is. Here is my reconstruction of one of the central arguments of Taylor's book: #philsky #philosophy
(1) If a secular theory of moral obligation were true, then moral obligations are not obligations to person(s).
(2) If a secular theory of moral obligation were true, then moral obligations would be more binding than than any humanly-imposed obligations.
(3) If moral obligations are not obligations to person(s), then they cannot be obligations to God.
(4) If moral obligations are more binding than any humanly-imposed obligations, then moral obligations are obligations to God.
Therefore:
(5) If a secular theory of moral obligation were true, it would be true that moral obligations are obligations to God and it would be false that moral obligations are obligations to God. (From 1-4)
Therefore:
(6) It is impossible for a secular theory of moral obligation to be true. (From 5 by the LNC)

I think it is better not to apologize than it is to issue a non-apology. Case in point: compare the screenshot on the left to the screenshot on the right. One can express shock and confusion (feelings) without also making sweeping generalizations about Republican voters (claims/beliefs).
