I've lost respect for Otaku Odyssey because they lost respect for Artists. Going forward I will not be selling there, nor attending, unless they start treating artists the way they deserve to be treated. #animeconvention #artistalley #texasanimeconvention #texasconvention #anime #otakuodyssey

If your actions draw disagreement and you delete posts and lie about the feedback you got, I'm going to call you out on it. The following screenshots are discussions from the Otaku Odyssey discord. There was some confusion over website glitches and early bird pricing, and that in itself is fine, but what is not fine is that when I commented about my experience with the cost, I was told it was not a positive environment, for the discord, and when another artist replied to my comment that neither they nor their friends made profit either, it was deleted.

I truly feel this is a money grab. There is a growing pattern of taking advantages of artists, and seeing them as the 'means to grow' a profitable con, instead of the give and take of the past. Artists are struggling to afford table prices, and such high costs for a small con is predatory.

In comparison to last year's price of $325 for a table, the EARLY BIRD price is now $325, which means the cost is going up even BEYOND that. For comparison, this is a small con. This is its 3rd year. In the previous year, 2025, under the name Otaku Oasis, the con did pretty great for a first year. But under a change of management and some rocky issues I'm not too clear on besides that the new owners honored the table sales of the old con for the coming year, 2026 was decent but underwhelming in sales and attendance compared to the previous year, plus issues with the venue/hotel.

For comparison, one of the LARGEST and LONGSTNDING IN TEXAS, 3-DAY CONVENTIONS, SAN JAPAN, costs roughly $300 for a 6ft artist table.

I wanted to be hopeful of this con. They listened to feedback and moved the con to a better venue. We also all gave feedback about the cost of the tables. I clearly recall the artists and vendors I spoke to at the end of the con who struggled to make table. If you cannot take constructive criticism, don't go deleting actual vendor's comments who refute your claims. In the end, I'll speak with my wallet and sell elsewhere.
