Stuff I saw yesterday on my #cemeterycrawl that accidentally included a park & wildlife refuge. Headstone is for a man who served in WWII, Korea, AND Vietnam. It was being swallowed by a tree & I couldn’t get between them. The cat wanted to come home with me until it was time to get in the car.

For the diversity chapter in one of my classes, I do a DB re food as a cultural item & ask students to talk about their favorite thing on their holiday tables that represent their heritage or their family. Extra credit for the recipe. SO MANY students connect to each other over shared food.

Soups. I make a pretty good broccoli cheese soup (the only made-by-me soup my kid will eat. Otherwise it’s La Madeleine tomato basil or nothing). I like making vegetable stew, too, but I always make GOBS (how can you not??) & end up tossing the leftovers, which makes me sadder than a lot of things.

My JuCo had dorms. One roommate flunked out of the beauty school program & I’m 💯 sure she wore my clothes when I was gone for the weekend. One was French and never once spoke to me except to tell me to stop snoozing my alarm. Eventually I had a Spanish one & still love her to bits 35 yrs later.

Not that anybody gives a damn but The Bad Place did a fun thing in October where folks posted photos of headstones around a different theme each day. The only one I didn’t find a good one for was torch. I found torch-adjacent - lighthouses, candles - but not actual torch. LOOK WHAT I FOUND TODAY!
