I remember being assigned to memorize a poem from Carson's "The Beauty of the Husband" in my contemporary poetry class freshman year of college. Living inside her language made a massive impression on me that I'm sure seeps into my own writing to this day. Congratulations, queen 👑

The thing I like about the X-Men is that if you join it doesn’t matter if you were an assassin or raised in a murder cult or worshipped as a god, at some point they will make you try to teach geometry to a bunch of fifteen year olds.

This makes me think of a video I saw the other day about this tree in Ireland that, when you get close to it, you realize is actually three different trees (and species!) that have grown in and around each other over centuries, and they're thriving together med.stanford.edu/news/all-new...

The rate of suicide attempts by trans and nonbinary youth is astronomical, and all this miserable country and its spineless institutions are doing is making it even harder for them to simply exist. #translivesmatter www.thetrevorproject.org/blog/anti-tr...

I hate that @nyulangone.bsky.social is my only endocrinology option in town; giving them my business in light of this decision makes me sick. A trans kid not having access to gender-affirming care can be as life-threatening as a diabetic not having access to insulin. gothamist.com/news/nyu-lan...

Also man, is Gillian Anderson the platonic ideal of a tragic, decadent Tennessee Williams heroin in this movie, except what if Stanley never ripped the lantern off the bare lightbulb and Blanche could always live under that paper moon?

Camp Miasma hit me in the psyche such a specific way, only rivaled by I Saw the TV Glow. The interplay between fiction and desire and self and the space between them where your brain finally goes quiet—or is drowned out by the Counting Crows. I will be thinking about this film for a long time

I'm frankly shocked that there's been almost no media coverage of the Adderall shortage, which has been going on for seven months and counting. For many people who suffer from ADHD and depression, myself included, Adderall is a life-saving medication.

Copy editing is about more than grammar and formatting; the meaning of words matters. Major outlets like @cnn.com saying "racial" instead of "racist" matters. But I see this particular mistake often enough across the board to know that it's likely quite intentional.

I covered her show for an article a while back expecting to be so mad, but it’s not actually her advice across the board. She’s essentially saying that if you have tons of books and keeping them around makes you happy, then keep them and winnow down something else that’s taking up space instead
