Shared virtual worlds have enormous healing power for people who are socially isolated or chronically ill. The challenge is creating virtual spaces where genuine, lasting connection can happen. My experience has been that smaller communities do that better. Or large communities with small circles.

Lately we've been meeting up in our 2nd Second Haven server where we play Sprint Racer, a game with 50 unique racing tracks and 18 battle arenas. It feels fantastic to RUN in a virtual world when you can barely stand up irl. It's also great to hang out when socializing in person is impossible.
