It was rly hard picking between soul silver & crystal since soul silver is STILL the better game objectively but man does crystal hold a lot of memories for me also the last football game is mostly influential bc of its soundtrack lol its still one of my favs of all time

semi-related but from the same era, yellow submarine’s experimentation with different textures & animation styles was also huge for me, I feel like at least 22% of my style was influenced by the Eleanor rigby section lol still recommend checking it out even if u hate the Beatles

also since I was mostly raised by boomers i got an early interest in 60s psychedelic art work, which was helped during my early childhood by all of the nostalgia bait for that era that was EVERYWHEERREEE it’s a style im still critical of but damn is that typography impressive

Very Specific but when I was a kid there was educational stuff out the wazoo about saving the rainforest in the late 90s/early 2000s media so now I love the “utopian rainforest that has every jungle animal in it for some reason” aesthetic combined with old educational computer games look

Another show from around the same time that left a life long impact on me was samurai jack!! Still some of the most immaculately designed background art ive ever seen in animation & im still obsessed with how excellent the cinematography & emotion is in this series

adding on to this bc both shows shared A lot of talent between them but it’s hard for me to stress how influential both cowboy bebop and wolf’s rain had on me lol; I think the first time I ever had media make me feel truly hopeless and heartbroken was the ending of wolf’s rain

ok to start off, watching adult swim late at night in the early 2000s is one of my first real inspirations (since I was like 8 when it came on lol), ESPECIALLY the Saturday night anime block fucking cowboy bebop performed brain surgery on me, the eerie but comfy late night vibes stuck with me a lot

I’m watching Bambi for the first time in years (without paying the mouse too lol) & the watercolor artwork in it is so fucking beautiful it keeps making me cry, I think this is the first time I’ve it in such high definition The ability to create something this beautiful is divine, art is divine
