The political effects of X’s feed algorithm - Nature
Among users initially on a chronological feed, 7 weeks of exposure to X’s algorithmic feed in 2023 shifted political attitudes and account-following behaviour in a more conservative direction compared with those remaining on a chronological feed, whereas switching the feed setting in the opposite direction, from algorithmic to chronological, had no effect.

How journals can break down barriers for Latin American scientists
The publishing ecosystem must do more to tackle inequities; quotas and partnerships with societies can help.

History, epidemiology, social movement theory, and network science are combined in this paper I handled, which is a great example of how Nature is expanding into the social sciences.

Having both quantitative and qualitative researchers (and so many sociologists!) weigh in on a core topic like demography and reproduction really illustrates how to make sense of these larger trends—their causes, their effects, and how people live through and experience them. Be sure to read this!

I worked on this Focus issue during my time @naturecities.bsky.social, and this Editorial @nature.com brings the insights from academics and policymakers in urban spheres into a wider audience. We need more research to know exactly what smart means and its effects on many populations.
