In Québec, we nationalized the hydro company (into a crown corporation, with #1 responsibility to serve citizens) in decades ago. We are now a leader in renewables, with some of the lowest hydro rates for users in the world, and we export excess electricity to the US. Profits fund expansion. win-win

For example: I'd rather invest in a new business somewhere where I can be sure workers will have access to stable, reliable transit; solid healthcare & good education (for themselves and their family). It's easier to retain motivated workers when the community they live in supports a healthy life.
