Our nationwide study finds that chronic back pain and headaches are highly prevalent among Germany’s working population. Sleep problems, burnout, gender, and age were key correlates, highlighting the need for better prevention. Published in the Journal of Health Psychology doi.org/10.1177/1359...

Joint research with Rachel D. Teodorini, James H. Smith-Spark, and Nicola Rycroft shows that burnout mediates the association between undiagnosed ADHD symptoms and substance use, highlighting stress as a key mechanism linking ADHD-related difficulties to health-risky coping behaviors. rdcu.be/e95Tg

Research with Nina Nänel, Mareike Reimann, and Myriam Baum shows how working conditions shape health-related coping behaviors. Our results indicate that stress serves as a mediator between work demands and resources and substance use for enhancement purposes. doi.org/10.1111/soin...

New paper published with my Christian Schneickert, Leonie C. Steckermeier and Jan Delhey! We found that status seeking was positively associated with self-optimisation dispositions. This effect was stronger among anxious status seekers and those in competitive jobs: doi.org/10.1111/soc4...

We developed and validated the Self-Control Ability Scale (SCAS) to measure an individual’s self-perceived ability to withstand temptation, provocation, or social pressure when they conflict with their personal morality. Just published in Justice Quarterly (www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.... ).
