Yeah, I still play local, but I shut down the realm I was paying microsoft to host.

Looks like I finally have a game to replace the Minecraft realm I shutdown when Microsoft was added to BDS!

My dissertation was on flood risk modeling. If you actually read the methodologies for the most state of the art flood consequence models for building damage they are no where near as sophisticated as their marketing materials would have you believe.

Even if they were Hamas members, if they were killed while working as a journalist that’s not defensible. Are American journalists valid targets for Iran‘s military if they ever served in the is military?

Yeah, fine. I’m not concerned. I just don’t want to see fake cries of agony. I don’t find the joke funny, nor do I find it problematic.

I mean, if my friend was constantly making siri say it wanted to kill itself, I would probably worry for that friend and make sure they were doing ok. I wouldn’t be concerned for Siri.

I would wager that many of the people who believe in AI consciousness also believe that most enslaved people were treated well by their kindly masters.

I feel the same way about this as I do about movies that are excessively violent and gory simply for the sake of violence and gore. It’s not necessarily wrong, and I know it’s not real, but I still don’t like to see it.

Yeah, I agree with that. That's my point about why the problem is not with the smart tv itself because you still need some kind of streaming device whether within the tv or separate that can easily record you and send that info to google or whoever.

I don't know the answer, but I assume most of the size of my phone is from the screen and battery. So I suppose the same processing power with a mic could be made quite small.

So you suggest I buy a "dumb" tv and then go and buy an internet-connected box from Google to send the video to the tv. So now my tv doesn't spy on my, but what about the google box, apple tv, roku box, etc? What's stopping them from putting mics in there?

sebasrowan.bsky.social @sebasrowan.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
So sure, no internet to the tv can stop the tv from being the spy gear, but it doesn’t stop manufacturers from placing the spy gear elsewhere. A real solution, and I don’t know what that is, would prevent any device from being the spy gear, including the smart tv.

It’s a solution insofar as not having any internet connection is a solution. No I don’t “need” to stream tv. But I want to watch tv and movies and streaming is really the only way today. whether I stream from my tv or from a Roku box etc. connected to the tv, an internet connection is still involved
110
sebasrowan.bsky.social @sebasrowan.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
I don’t really think this is a solution. whether the internet connection is to my TV or the thing plugged into the TV, I still have a device connected to the internet.

Looking up the address on your pc is no better than using your phones gps. Going without your phone is not really an option for most people. Individual volunteers are unlikely to have their map queries checked. Opsec is good, but it needs to be balanced with making your program effective.

also make sure you have all location services turned off on your phone. Many apps collect your location in the background and ICE purchases this data for their surveillance.

I think having a single sign in service would be a bit antithetical to the selling point of proton which is that they don’t collect your data and track your activity across the internet.

Democrats need to stop pandering to republicans. There is no platform that can appeal to them and progressives. If you abandon climate policy, lgbtq rights, labor, and health care to earn votes, you prove to the left you are not trustworthy. We need someone with truly principled stances to win.

If Harris had run in 2024 on the same platform she ran on in 2020, she probably would have won. She was one of the more progressive candidates (she at least supported Medicare for all), but she shifted right in 2024 and proved she isn’t genuine and can’t be trusted.

I’m not sure I understand the issue here. It was already required for men to sign up for the draft. This just automates it. I’m against the draft entirely, but not sure why I should be upset specifically about it being automatic.

Unfortunately if you use a kindle (or any e-reader) for ebooks, bookshop is not the way. They require you to read the book in their own app.

LOL you're right. I went back and looked and she never said she supported the genocide. In fact she never even used the word genocide. She did say she would continue sending weapons to Isreal though, so maybe despite what she said she actually did support the genocide. Would a genocider lie though?

If things are worse now in Palestine, it’s because the trajectory of the genocide remained unchanged. I don’t believe the trajectory would have been different under Harris, and I’m going to need more than her claims of “working around the clock” to believe that.
110
sebasrowan.bsky.social @sebasrowan.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
In what way were they trying to end the genocide? I actually think sending weapons does equal not putting pressure. Also, in what way is the situation in Palestine better than what it would be under Harris? Why should I believe anything would be different?
110
sebasrowan.bsky.social @sebasrowan.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
No, it’s revisionist history to say they were putting pressure on Israel. They never stopped sending weapons and they refused to even consider conditioning aid. Biden said invading raffah was a red line but then Israel flattened raffah and Biden kept sending weapons.

sebasrowan.bsky.social @sebasrowan.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
If you actually think the leftist coalition that refused to vote for Harris after repeatedly and clearly announcing that intention are to blame for the outcome, why didnt Harris just stop supporting the genocide in Gaza?
