We're reading Konrad von Megenburg's Book of Nature in the Medieval German Seminar this term. Earlier this week, I read 'The moon is much smaller than the sun, but it seems as big because it is much closer than the sun', and all I could think of was this iconic scene from Fr Ted with the cows!
Two screenshots from Fr Ted: on the left, Ted holds a small toy horse and says 'Okay, one last time. These are small'. in the right, Dougal stares in confusion as Ted says 'but the ones out there are far away'.

Hello BlueSky! I'm currently a German Lecturer at Oxford and a medievalist by training. I finished my DPhil last year on medieval Marian lyric in French and German cities - a favourite image below, which illustrates one such poem, depicting Mary as a regent, teaching with authority. BnF fr 145 3v
Manuscript miniature, with Mary seated on a chair, with the Christ child and an open book in her lap, teaches pews filled with saints, as well as friars and clergy.
