A mate loaned me Quack Shot and today I sat down and beat it. Surprisingly good character platformer, I’ll have to try Castle of Illusion next.

I’ve had this Universal Adapter for ages and today, I managed to get it to load a game - Kidō Keisatsu Patlabor I also have Mario’s Picross and Kirby Super Deluxe which pull up a lock out screen or doesn’t load at all.

I went to a game store today and bought Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for a tenth of the cost of any GBA Pokemon, I was shocked.

It’s Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on GBA

The GBA is backwards displaying the cartridge slot and some IKEA batteries. Did you know Tactics is Tic Tacs backwards? It’ll come up in a trivia competition someday, you can thank me later.

Got one of these handhelds to play what isn’t readily available. Beat Armadillo aka Mario IV. This ball rolling platformer has nifty ideas, is visually appealing, but runs a little slow with some literally copy and pasted level design.

Forgot to post gets this week, Pac-Man shaped Pac-Man (but also Namco) plug & play. And Tetris Speed (basically uno or snap with no turns)

It’s a PAC-Man shaped plug and play controller. The joystick is where Pac-Man’s eye is, B and A are at the bottom of his jaw and the power switch is on the top.

Confusingly Pac-Man’s mouth is ajar making holding the system awkward.

My two ideas today, could I recreate my childhood putt putt golf course using the aerial view from Google Maps (no), could I design a Tony Hawk Pro Skater track based on my local mall (maybe, if I relied on memory.) I’ll try again on desktop because I think they’re viable if not bizarre ideas.

I demodified my GBA, removed whatever funny playing backlight I had and reinstalled the original… I lost the original shell moving and had to bought a replacement, it’s Midnight Blue and from Japan. However, the thing is great at attracting lint and is impossible to photograph.

It’s a Midnight Blue Game Boy Advance, the body is beaten, the screen is reflective to the point that I am pictured taking the photo and there is several bits on lint on the screen. Apparently this is Japanese only.

The excellent port of Worms World Party is on screen. I wasn’t savvy enough to rename the teams to create a subliminal message.

I also played the Pragmata demo! Managing your load-out, movement, hacking system on a 2D 4x4 grid and shooting at the same time made my brain go brrr in good ways. Never heard of looter shooters before, but being a fan of Goldeneye it makes sense to me. Of course the gunplay here is denser.

The third game I finished in 2026 is Exit 8 on the Nintendo Switch 2 Reaction streamer’s dream game, simple premise - walk down the hall, if everything looks normal continue on, however should you find something out of place it’s best you turn around. Genuinely creepy at points, tense too!

Saw Send Help today at United Cinemas Narellan, I like that they’ve kept the old carpet and sky lights… also pictured are Sega Rally cabinets.

The second game I finished in 2026 is Luigi’s Mansion on the GameCube. Full of character, I like the cues from Resident Evil and how hovering up ghosts is like reeling in a fish à la Sega Bass Fishing as well as the Mario 64 audio stings when you save a Toad or collect Mario’s gear.

Here’s my hours for the year, I was overseas in October which explains that drop. My general goal is to game more and be on my phone less, and focus on fewer titles instead of playing an hour of many games. Looking at 9 year list, I should go back to finish Harvestella.

My first game finished in 2026 is Wario World for the GameCube. I went for the best ending on the Japanese version because I heard the final boss was improved upon. Features some trademark Treasure beats - namely boss encounters and puzzle rooms.
