They are keen on privatising the NHS and are ideologically opposed to paying tax to fund universal healthcare. There is private pay now for those who can afford it and who want to beat queues where they exist. Most like the basic model of paid by taxation and free at point of need.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you get sorted soon.The NHS isn't perfect but most people get good care most of the time. It's under strain as people are living longer with multiple conditions but there are some here on the right who think the answer is to move more to a US insurance based system.

Saw a GP on a Thursday with a gastro problem, had gastroscopy on Monday, results given there and then picked up a prescription and home. It's taking me longer to book a service for the car.

There's no logic just racism. I was born in England, English dad, Irish mum with Scottish ancestry. Am I no longer ethnically 'English' by Braverman's definition or am I ok because I'm white? My son did one of those DNA tests and it was all over the place.

I once bought a brie and grape ( I know..) sandwich from a supermarket. In the packet it looked generously filled. However taking the top slice off showed an inch wide strip of filling at the cut edge. Scandalous.

Father in law was in shared hospital transport. A woman said to the Asian driver " I suppose the free NHS is why you came here". He quietly replied that he was born here, worked,paid tax and his wife worked in the hospital they'd just come from. Horrible people saying horrible things out loud.

I worked in a DHSS office in London in the 80s dealing with cardboard city dwellers or so called ' itinerant claimants'. They were given vouchers which they couldn't exchange for drink etc. They just sold or swapped them.
