Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 27/09/2026What is your preferred nasal passage opener? I've seen some advertised on Instagram and am very interested, but it's hard for me to tell which ones are legit. 101
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 26/09/2026I can still remember a steak meal I had in Argentina probably almost 15 years ago. Jealous of you (but hope you enjoy!) 110

Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 24/09/2026Psst if you're returning an HTTP 5xx error but the error message is about validation findings on the input, you probably want that to be a 4xx error. #HowIsThisStillAThingstatic.klipy.comThe More You KnowAlt: "The More You Know", text speeding through space on a star with a rainbow as a sort of trailing comet-style tail. Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 21/09/2026Other airports are just jealous because we're already leading the "people killed by major airline incidents" race in the last two years. Just trying to strengthen that lead. 000
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 21/09/2026Cool cool cool the airport that's 15 minutes from my house 😬 100
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 21/09/2026If you are developing and running a cloud-based product in production, in 2026, and you are unable to detect a major loss of functionality and communicate it clearly to consumers, you are unprofessional. Full stop. 011
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 20/09/2026Definitely read this as "Weird Al" (as in Yankovic) and had a nice chuckle. 020
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 20/09/2026I think devs tend to make these things into big events, but this was easy and minimal. Truly a non-event. Happy to support tooling we get value from. Cheers, @simoncropp.bsky.social! 🍻 012
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 20/09/2026* I sponsored the project via GitHub sponsors on behalf of our org. * Followed the clear instructions to update the dependency and add our sponsorship info. * Voila! All done. I mention this because good tools deserve funding if that's what they think they need, and Verify adds a ton of value. 120
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 20/09/2026* Teammate updated our dependencies, and saw the build broke for Verify * Noted that Verify added the OSMF * Added an item to our weekly roundtable meeting * We discussed options: pay $240/yr, do without those tests, or rewrite them. * ROI immediately evident. Team voted to keep. 100
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 20/09/2026An easy decision this week: our team handily voted to keep and pay the OSMF for @simoncropp.bsky.social's Verify .NET. Verify is a snapshot testing tool/ecosystem and it's great. Here's how it went down: #dotnet #oss #osmf 262

Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 18/09/2026Just dusted off a process I created and automated 2+ years ago, in about 10 minutes. Will save dozens of hours for the teammate using it. A nice win for a Friday. 🎉 000
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 17/09/2026They're not outsourcing the decisions so much as attempting to outsource the accountability. Innocent people will die because of this, and blame will be avoided, unless we ensure it's not. 000
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 11/09/2026It's so good! I absolutely love mine. The external cable has recently gotten a little finicky and I'm considering contacting them for a replacement since I'm not tough on it at all. But it is *delightful* to use. 010

Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 06/09/2026Thread numbering is a lovely, well-done feature. Thanks @bsky.app! 010
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 06/09/2026Still, I do owe @bitnami.bsky.social a thanks. They got us up and running quickly in the beginning which allowed me to get our product's legs under it without worrying about that part of the ecosystem. Just wish it could have gone better, since there was so much room for it to. 000
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 06/09/2026You guessed it -- they started removing all the chart source from their repositories, like they said they wouldn't. This was a surprise and left us stranded with stuff we couldn't update. I offered to pay. I put in the time. And still got hosed. 100
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 06/09/2026I had weeks of discussions with Bitnami. I offered to pay a reasonable fee for our usage/org size (their fee would be 50% of our entire infra). Conclusion: we could fork the repo and add our own build process, since the charts would remain available. I invested a lot of time to do that right. Welp. 100
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 06/09/2026Almost done ripping out our @bitnami.bsky.social usage after they burned all their OSS goodwill and tried to charge us $60k/year to use 3 helm charts. Will feel good to be rid of them. Another great project torched by enterprise capture. 120

Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 03/09/2026FWIW I'm actively investigating moving our corporate subscription. Hoping others will too. If I do move it, I'll write about how so that others might take the same path. (most of our inertia is around the way we use the product, BitWarden looks to be good competition there) 021
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 03/09/2026I appreciate your honest summary of DHH's comments. Too many outlets afraid to call a spade a spade. 000
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 03/09/2026Will be interesting to see who recovers 1Password's fumble. Looking like BitWarden will do well. Their devops tooling and kubernetes operator seem poised to make transition easier for businesses as well. 030
Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 03/09/2026It's a heavier lift but I'm actively investigating moving our enterprise instance. I wrote them and their response was basically "we're supporting OSS!" As a developer for 20+ years and advocate of OSS I asked them to please not treat customers like idiots on top of it. Insult to injury. 040

Sean Killeen @seankilleen.com · 30/08/2026Weirdly, in its price hike announcement FAQ to customers, @atlassian.bsky.social doesn't answer "hey, didn't you fire 10% of your staff for AI? Why didn't that prevent a price increase?" 130
