More about Super Metroid and all the other games it had me thinking of. Not to spoil too much but there's one moment in a tunnel that had me going "Dark Souls Moment" the way the game had intertwined all its areas. Such a great sense of place in general.

Long have I felt like a phony Metroid fan so in preparation for Ravenous I'm playing through some classics, started with Super Metroid. Having just beat it, yeah the hype is real, certified classic.

In case anyone missed my little X-Files point and click daydream
Mulder, Scully, Skinner, and the Lone Gunmen, all drawn in a cartoony style.A hallway of an institute or something like that, with eldritch green light pouring in through a far window.A car crests a hill at night. A figure with a shovel stands by the roadside. My wife and I are watching a little bit of The X-Files again and I've been doodling
along.

Imagine if you will: a five act point-and-click where you switch between Mulder and Scully depending on what kind of clues and puzzles you're working with. The Lone Gunmen get their own episode during Act 4 but they all move together like a single character. Tone is 70% comedy 30% paranormal horror.

Scully: "Mulder, you can't combine those."
Mulder, trying to tie a stick of dynamite to a taxidermied pheasant using half a shoelace: "Ancient Roman augurs read omens into the flight paths of birds all the time, Scully."

Scully: LOOK AT Enormous Rotating Saucer Hovering Over the Town
Scully: "That's the second biggest weather balloon I've ever seen."

Scully: LOOKAT Fox Mulder's Docs Folder
OPEN Fox Mulder's Docs Folder
Scully: "Ah."
Mulder: "I get those for the articles."
Scully: "Yeah who doesn't love a juicy article."

Mulder LOOK AT Mysterious Skull
Mulder: "Seen this, Scully?"
Scully: "Artificial cranial deformation has been attested in numerous cultures,
Mulder. The practice results in elongated skulls and flattened foreheads."
Mulder: "Does it make the bones glow green?"

Two more shorty ancestries, Gnomes and Halflings. This was a fun pair to do, as I feel they often "overlap" with people's perceptions (especially the DnD versions).
The smallest ancestry, averaging between 2-3 feet tall with small bodies and larger heads. Generally their hair has an "ascending" quality, with colorful hair that swoops and curls upward, even their eyebrows have this quality. Gnome men almost always have a well maintained and often eccentric mustaches, and if they grow a beard too it usually plays 2nd fiddle to the mustache. Their eyes are large and colorful, often matching or contrasting their hair. Their noses are long or large, always noticeable. Their hands and feet are long, with long, thin fingers and toes. Overall they are ethereal, unreal, and unageing.Halflings are a short and stout people, ranging between 2.5-3 feet tall with small, round bodies. Round is the general theme here, round faces, round eyes, and large round ears higher up on their heads. Hair and eyes tend toward natural colors, curly brown or red hair, brown or green eyes. Male halflings often grow out fairly prominent sideburns or mutton-chops, but any facial hair besides that is rare. They have large hands and feet, with stubby fingers and furry, tough feet. Their legs are long and strong, able to quickly spring into action and scurry off at the first sign of trouble.

More worldbuilding for my #pathfinder game. Got the 2 most popular goblinoids, goblins and hobgoblins. Never been super fond of their designs in canon so took a different approach modeling them mostly off of monkeys.
Male goblin on the left, female on the right. Pretty short at 3-4 ft tall, but slightly bigger than halflings or gnomes. They are somewhat stooped in their posture, with short necks and legs. Facial structures resemble monkeys, with slightly protruding jaws to accommodate large sharp teeth. Similar to monkeys they're hairline begins at the brow, though male goblins often go bald as they age. With males facial hair usually only grows on the sides of their face, stopping around the "muzzles." Females often have colorful features on their faces, or brightly colored hair. Goblin feet also resemble monkeys, with long articulate toes capable of grabbing. Generally hobgoblins look like a species with a history of goblins selectively bred for height and strength; with low body fat, and long, strong arms and legs growing from relatively short cores. They tend to be around the height of humans at 5-6 feet tall due to these lengthy limbs, as they have pretty short strong necks and retain some of their cousin's stooped posture. Unlike goblins they have hairlines further up, though their brows often connect back with their sideburns. They have large, cat-like eyes and long pointed ears that curve back. Like goblins they also have long sharp incisors, and long toes, though they are less articulate.

Main takeaway from that Direct I hate leakers
AM's famous hate monologue
Hate. Let me tell you how much I've come to hate you since I began to live. There are 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. If the word 'hate' was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of millions of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for humans at this micro-instant. For you. Hate. Hate.

Haven't posted much art here but have been drawing a good bit, some series mostly for my own benefit as I do some world-building. One thing I've been drawing are the different "ancestries." Moving away from just "short human, human with pointy ears" cliches. First, Dwarfs and Elves!
Male dwarf on the left, female on the right. Notable are of course their short (3.5-4.5 ft) stocky frames, with wide feet similar to heavyset animals like elephants. Common facial features include heavy brows, large sensitive noses and ears, and of course beards. Female dwarfs commonly grow beards, though mustaches are less common. Male dwarfs also tend to go bald as they age. Notably also, despite their powerful shoulders and upper arms, dwarfs tend to have smaller, more nimble hands, useful for working with delicate jewelry and crafts.Male elf on the left, female on the right. Long and fair is the theme here. They tend towards being taller than the average human, between 5.5 and 6.5 ft tall, but also tend to weigh less. Facial features include large eyes with large irises, long nasal bridges ending with delicate pointed noses, and of course pointed ears typically pointing upward. They also have longer arms, with large hands and long fingers, and also stand on the tips of their feet similar to felines or canines.

Photos of newly arrived immigrants at Ellis Island. Augustus Sherman took the photos between 1902 and 1920 when he worked as the Chief Registry Clerk. Striking to me how the outfits all look good because they have a discernible silhouette (shape and drape).
Two photo. The first is of a Romanian piper; the second is of three Georgians who were employees of the "Buffalo Bill Wild West Show."

It used to be many racists would have an "origin story," an account of an unpleasant encounter they had with someone of a different race, that justifies their bigotry. Now they just read some BS on X or Facebook and they're good to go. It's great.

The immense popularity of “Calvin and Hobbes,” often called “the last great newspaper comic,” can risk obscuring its many inspirations & antecedents. In both style & content, the strip is very well-versed in the rich history of comics and often pays tribute to its influences. 1/12 #CalvinAndHobbes
