Moderation is torture!! Those of us who cannot moderate are SO Much better of just stopping drinking forever. Most of my friends are able to just have a glass or two... but I needed to accept deeply that I could not. Relief!! #sober #soberwriter #amwriting #amwritingmemoir #memoir #quitlit

Why I drank. These are extracts from my quit lit memoir. These are the reasons I THOUGHT Idrank. In fact, I was simply addicted to alcohol. It's very addictive!! The joy of letting all that go! #sobersisters #sobrietyforwomen #emotionalsobriety #sobrietyrules #aflife #adultchild.

Being an adult child of an alcoholic had a huge effect on me. Glad I can remember the good childhood memories, after liberating myself from the bad ones. #adultchild. #adultchildrenofalcoholics #adultchildren #sober #quitlit

Struggling with alcohol is like wrestling a thousand snakes. I read the words from my memoir and want to weep for the trapped soul that I was. Stopping has been transformational! #sobriety #alcoholfree #sobermom #sobrietyrocks #sobercommunity #sobertribe #soberwarrior

Why mothers drink! It's for that shot of instant relax. But it always comes back to punish you, bite you, harm you. Fighting against the illusion of 'mummy wine culture' is crucial!! #soberliving #soberaf #sobercurious #alcoholfreelife #soberfun #sobernation #soberjourney #sobersisters

An interview on the wonderful ABC radip show Conversations with Sarah Kanowsi was a privilege, and one that lasts through time too. Whilst I love to chat, interviews about 'Going Under' are always emotionally exhausting. #writer #writing #amwriting #quitlit

Drinking is always emotionally complex for those of us who grey up in an alcoholic home. The guilt! The awareness of what it can do! The pain of our own addiction. The shame of it. The only way out is to stop. #sobriety #alcoholfree #sobermom #quitlit #sobercommunity #sobertribe #soberwarrior

Winter in Sydney is all right. This is Fairy Bower pool at Manly. Glorious!! We did have a massive storm bom earlier in the week. Two days of pelting rain and howling wind. But the sun has returned now.

More shots from the Camino Frances, cheers for another nice AF beer. Mostly drinking agua con gas though. My Aussie friends and I are walking the last 200 km of this Camino, averaging about 20 km a day. Lovely!!

If you find yourself in London, how about a swim at Parliament Hill Fields Lido. I swam on a blue sky sunny day but was glad of the poolside sauna as the pool was 12 degrees C. Yes, unheated. Porridge and coffee in the cafe are a post-swim must!! #swim #london #lido

Interesting article in the Guardian for writers. Trad publishing really does run on the blood, sweat and tears of writers. I always advise a bit of self-publishing in the mix. www.theguardian.com/books/2025/m...

‘More are published than could ever succeed’: are there too many books?

While some say the rise of the self-publishing model is damaging the industry, others feel it gives authors a fairer deal

Happy Birthday to me! I have had the privilege of 61 voyages around the sun and am lucky to be feeling robust and healthy. See photo for wrinkle report. I’m a lover of wrinkles, love the stories they tell. Why rail against aging when it is simply part of this life we all lead? Wisdom over youth!
