IBB were not recorded before 1955
31 WALKS IN AUGUST
WERE A FRANCHISE RECORD FOR THE MONTH
AND THE MOST BY A PHILLIES PLAYER WITHOUT AN IBB IN ANY MONTH
SINCE AT LEAST 1955

and our internal dialogue
Could you check in with Retrosheet on this one? The play is coded:
play,9,0,keplm001,01, CX,153/L2
The /L2 batted ball trajectory modifier means it is treated as a lineout, though ultimately the play was a groundout (it deflected to the third baseman who threw to first for the out). I'm not sure there's much to be done here to be honest. ****'s comment here says that the play-by-play code is correct but our code generating the description lets the fact that the hit trajectory was Line Drive supersede the fact that it was a ground out play. But I don't know that that there's a way for our code to identify a liner that ends up as a groundout like this.
This code would have been generated by MLBAM originally, but it can't hurt to check in with Retrosheet to see if there's a different way this could be coded.

comment:
In the ninth inning of this game, there was a line drive back to the mound which hit Miguel Del Pozo in the chin. The ball hit the ground which was then picked up by the third baseman who threw to first for the out. While the ball was hit as a line drive, the play becomes a ground out if I am not mistaken. A 153 lineout would be if the ball ricocheted around and was caught in the air.

Prepping an image for a slide show tomorrow. My team will understand.
Rendered in legos. the scene shows a sepia toned 1920's football game in which the ball carrier is a caiman running upright with the football tucked under his arm.

The Coventry City badge doesn't really translate to the score bug very well. At first blush I thought it looked like Bluto wearing gloves with a soccer ball in front of him and a red and white prayer shawl over his head.

So the only thing that differentiates this play from all of the others is that the SS didn't drop the ball?

Our data team kicks ass.
For the Knicks parade, they hung up a banner with the wrong number for Dillon Jones. He wore number 33 in the G league but 33 is Patrick Ewing's retired number.... his real number is 1.  Apparently the NBA site has it wrong on their roster, so does ESPN, but guess who doesn't.... Sports Reference

I enjoyed this from the Perfect Sentences newsletter today.
If there’s a singular drink of the everyman in today’s United States, it’s stuff that tastes like soda, inebriates like liquor, and (as a thoroughly contemporary invention) evokes exactly zero nostalgia for some imagined, egalitarian past.

Hey Peacock Tv. How about adding something like this to your setup. 99% of the time I open your app I'm looking for sports and you never tell me when it's not on Peacock. Just tell me where to watch the game and it would be very helpful. Just create a premier league hub I can go to every day.
