But it's not just memes. There's also a lot of collective emotion. And overlooking this kind of content can lead researchers astray, by underestimating young people's interest in politics and by overlooking the role of emotion and imagining discourse to be more Spock-like than it really is. (5/6)

We how keyword approaches lead to significant false negatives (compared to good old-fashioned hand coding/content analysis) when identifying election-related Tweets, and that the false negative rates are higher for younger people. (2/6)
