Our streets are not *inherently* dangerous. We have too much "Fuck you, got mine" attitude, cops modeling dangerous driving, etc. And we have a failure of imagination at the City level.

3 days. Apparently I've had vertigo for at least 4 years. I was successfully diagnosed and treated 4 days ago. I had 3 really, really great days. I will figure out how to do the home maneuver right or whatever to get more really great, or even good days. Today is not one of them.

The irony of going to the cop shop to report a driver forcing a pedestrian into the street was not lost on me. I can usually spot the block that there's an NYPD station by the row of parked cars on both sides of the sidewalk, blocking pedestrian & wheelchair access. #VisionZero

I recently followed up w/ NYPD on a driver who stopped in the crosswalk & reversed toward me as I crossed behind it (pic 1). The driver then accelerated toward me (pic 2) before straightening out. When I followed up at my local precinct, they were like there was no damage, so 🤷🏻‍♀️. #VisionZero
Picture of a vehicle whose driver stopped in the crosswalk 1 block from a subway stop. I chose to risk walking behind it than walk into traffic, to cross during my right of way. After i snapped this picture, I heard the reverse signal of this vehicle, backing into me.Picture of vehicle whose driver stopped for a red light fully in the crosswalk, after I had walked behind the vehicle during my right of way to cross, and after the driver chose to reverse toward me. The driver veered toward me just after I took this shot. The windshield, and front window, were covered in mirrored tint. NYPD officer stated there was nothing that could be done.

What is the plan to protect pedestrians before our blood is on the asphalt? Pedestrians are constantly being forced into vehicle traffic. Whether it's drivers driving into a crosswalk at a stop sign or stopping in the crosswalk at a red light, we have no metal cage to protect us, like cars have.

Seeing as NYPD will take it's sweet time, here it is for the record. Considering NYPD regularly forces pedestrians into the street with the way they park on the sidewalk, I'm not incredibly hopeful.

Looks & sounds like an Amazon Dodge RAM delivery vehicle: 1. Completely blocked the crosswalk Friday afternoon. 2. Began reversing *into me* when I had to walk behind it to cross the street. Yes, I snapped the license. 3. Had mirror tints on *all* windows. 4. Veered toward me when able.
Rear of dark blue Dodge RAM vehicle stopped in the crosswalk. NASCAR vanity NY plate NTAMZ0/NTAMZOPicture of said dark blue Dodge RAM vehicle, clearly stopped in the crosswalk, with mirrored tint on front windshield.

The crypto industry has spent hundreds of millions of dollars lobbying for the Clarity Act, which they pitch as “clear rules of the road”. In reality, it’s industry capture, deregulation, and legitimization of the most brazen self-dealing in presidential history. Senators must vote no.
The bill’s proponents describe the Clarity Act as providing “clear rules of the road” for digital assets, painting Democrats who oppose to a bill as inexplicably standing in the way of clear guardrails for crypto. “A no vote tomorrow kills the toughest ethics reform this country has ever put on the books, kills consumer protections for every American holding digital assets, and hands the future of this industry to our foreign competitors,” threatened Senator Lummis on Twitter.11

But regulations were previously, if belatedly, being enforced in the crypto sector by the SEC, which applied laws that cover a broad range of financial assets that fit the definition of an investment contract. Courts repeatedly upheld this application to the crypto sector — much to the chagrin of deep-pocketed crypto firms like Coinbase, Ripple, and Gemini, who responded with hundreds of millions in lobbying and saw their cases dropped under Trump [Quid pro quo]. Facing what they viewed as an existential threat from an SEC demanding they play by the same rules as other industries, the crypto sector spent hundreds of millions of dollars lobbying for the Clarity Act and electing lawmakers who would let them write their own rules. The result is not “clear rules of the road”, it’s industry-drafted deregulation with a loophole-ridden ethics section bolted on only after Republicans realized that even the pro-crypto Democrats installed with the help of $130 million in industry spending wouldn’t sign off on a bill placing no limits on Trump’s historic grift.Democrats considering a vote for cloture should understand what they’re endorsing: a bill that grandfathers in the crypto ventures that netted Trump $1.4 billion as investors were ruined, and leaves enforcement to Trump loyalists who have already dismantled crypto oversight and enabled some of the president’s worst abuses.

The crypto industry spent $130 million in 2024 installing lawmakers who would let them write their own rules. They’ve poured hundreds of millions more into lobbying for the Clarity Act and installing even more pro-crypto members of Congress in the midterms.Republicans are trying to disguise this industry capture and deregulation as consumer protection, painting Democrats who oppose the bill as anti-innovation obstructionists. Democrats should not give them the bipartisan cover they seek.

A vote for cloture tomorrow by any Senator — Democrat or Republican — is a vote to legitimize the most brazen self-dealing in presidential history and pave the road for yet more future abuses.

I'm not sure as many students would see themselves in the Neurodivergent label as could benefit from naming spicy brain traits. I think being seen in specific struggle is really key. And. No student benefits from race-gender harm. Nonpatholigizing *trait* belongingism vocab super welcome.

Ex: I recently had them share how they get chores done when they're really struggling. One student uses an alarm that goes off *before* they have to do the chore. I identified it as a super tactic for struggles with transition, which is a really common brain-spice.

From the fucking jump, they are redefining ASD criteria to include ID *for the first time ever.* This is looking for biological evidence to fit social bias, aka Eugenics. Just like then.
010
sdefenestration.bsky.social @sdefenestration.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
Your son's struggles absolutely deserve support. It is very important to research co-occuring disorders. ASD has no criteria for intellectual disability. It's not reasonable to trust "science" that starts with a false premise or oversimplifies mechanisms. This is Eugenics, mom. It's preying on you.
120
sdefenestration.bsky.social @sdefenestration.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
They've already conflated ASD & ID — two distinct diagnoses. This does smack me as Eugenical — it plays too well into the "fix the 'useless eaters'" argument. Any utility here is undercut by their fallacious premise. NPR is doing harm with its unquestioning framing.
000
sdefenestration.bsky.social @sdefenestration.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
While this may describe a real discovery with real potential, its premise is false: 1. "Profound" Autism is not a diagnosis 2. Autism has *never* included intellectual disability criteria. This article conflates comorbidity in support of a term as Eugenical as its now-defunct opposite, Aspergers.

Do cheating agents, like EDTA, get taken up by the plant? Specifically in hydroponic systems? Is the concentration high enough in solution that the plant can diffuse thru the concentration gradient, rather than needing a binding site & active transport?

A plant's root cells can passively or actively take in stuff. EDTA is water-solublish, but huge & makes a complex. Plants need certain metals, and chelated metals stay available, but it's 6:1 & the charges are wrong for active transport.

I technically teach hydroponics, am certified in chem & my reply may give traction: I doubt it. Think 💍: EDTA ≈ the ring & the stone ≈ the metal, except it's held together ≈ magnetically. The ring is bigger & oddly shaped. It can grab the stone, hold it, and give it away: the magic of chelation.
