Like Stranger Things is an example of building up expectations only to deliver on none of them with horrible writing. Telling viewers to pay attention because every detail is totally intentional... only to reveal that none of the inconsistencies were intentional, they were just oversights.

Sometimes it IS a mark of bad writing when a show builds expectations, but never delivers on those expectations. Other times, a story delivers on different expectations and we simply developed the wrong expectation.

It's fun to predict and analyze. Sometimes we come up with a better story in our heads than what's given to us. Other times we're simply married to those ideas because they are our own, or they are the only ways we want to perceive those things. So when the ending doesn't match it's 'bad writing'.

I hate the honeymoon period of a popular show when no one ever has anything bad to say about it because I know those same people are going to be acting like they always hated that show once it ends. Everyone falls in love with the speculation of what COULD happen without seeing what IS happening.

Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
But even then, that just means it's still bad writing because what do you mean your power system is so generic that everyone watching should understand it without explanation?
000
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
It's like most of them assume I already know what the power system is or how it works. Heck, the protagonist will often assume how things work as well. My only guess is that the LitRPG genre is so overdone in China that you're expected to know how everything basically works.

Can someone tell me why there's so many Chinese Light Novel adaptations that just don't tell you anything that's going on in their plot or about their power systems? I've tried to get into so many of them and they're all just so horribly written and confusing.

Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Again, I get that's the point, but it just feels so overdone to me that I can barely focus on or enjoy the story being told at all.

That and any setting which depicts a lot of drug use or late night partying kinda grosses me out too. People with smeared makeup, trash and graffiti everywhere, no one looks like they've taken a shower. Everyone looks like they spit brown liquid from how much they smoke.

I don't normally have too many issues with gore when I see it, but for some reason the way KoG does it is just TOO MUCH. Like the gore is made too personal. The blood is played with too much. It's the amount of time the show spends playing around in the blood like it's a rain puddle.
110
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
I understand this isn't really because of any 'bad writing' choices on KoG's end, it's just a 'me' thing. So much of the character designs, the setpieces, the backgrounds, the things that happen, all of it just makes my skin crawl. The blood mustache made me want to throw up.

Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
To describe the amount of discomfort I feel when watching it, imagine if there was a show all about farts and fart jokes, and then several times during the episode not only are people constantly shitting their pants, but they're also eating it. What you feel reading this is how I feel watching KoG

Knights of Guinivere just grosses me out to watch. A lot of the setting is super dirty and dingey and the gore is super over the top in a lot of places. I get that's the point and all, but this is just one of those shows I'm not understanding the hype for.

Whenever you've got a compassionate leader who tries to hear everyone out and see everyone, that ultimately makes both of them mad. Gotta pity the good person who has to lead people that hate each other. It's so much easier to just pick a side instead.

The truth is, people in monogamous relationships will cheat on you too without trying to soft launch polyamory. It's very obvious that a relationship can fail for any reason. Polyamory isn't the problem and monogamy isn't the solution. What works for you won't always work for someone else.
000
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Now, do I think there is such a thing as a person who tries to soft launch polyamory to their monogomous relationship as a way to 'cheat' on that person or shift away? Yes, I do. But y'know what that tells you if you're in the relationship? Just don't be with that person if you want monogamy.

Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
I think saying "Oh your children will get bullied" is the same thing people were saying about gay couples 10+ years ago. The culture can change. People can become familiar with it. They can become more compassionate. Your child is gonna experience bullying for any number of things. That's life.

I dunno, if you've got rage for every type of polycule that's fine, at least you're consistent. But if for some reason the idea of a one guy X girls polycule is fine for you while the others aren't, I think you should probably reflect on why that is and why you even care to begin with.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
And if at any point the polycule fails, it's because you allowed the woman to be a whore and it's proof that polyamory simply doesn't work and will never work ever at any time. Every polyamorous relationship is just waiting to fail because people (men) are made insecure by it.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
'Society' (men) have decided that if you are in a polycule as the only man among a bunch of women, you're pretty cool. If that polycule has more than one man in it, however, one man is a cuck and very uncool. Also you're the devil. Also, we should think of the children while clutching our pearls.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
The only accepted polycule is one where it's one dude and multiple women. You gotta wonder why that is. Could it be there's a bunch of insecure men inserting themselves into someone else's relationship? The world may never know. It's a mystery. In other news, Lesbians are the only acceptable gays
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
I dunno if I'd ever be interested in polyamory, but I gotta say it's kinda funny how anytime a polycule fails it's supposed to be evidence that they don't work, but when a monogamous relationship fails it's just normal.

If a God enters Itaro, it is torn asunder. The only way to put it out of its misery is for the xiozians to kill it in those ever-expanding and infinite eras. The God will become part of the world, its present, its past, and its future. Simultaneously killed by its inhabitants across time.
000
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
The 'origin' of Itaro exists at the same 'time' as its most distant past and future as well as the present. That's how Itaro works. It quite literally tears gods to shreds because of that.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Basically, whenever you observe the 'origin' of Itaro (that being the time when BCE turns to CE) it changes. Because not only is the past and future always expanding from that point, the point itself is also always expanding. The point you 'think' is the origin is infinitely away from the origin.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Anyways, fuck multiverse settings and canons. If the same characters in my world are being used to tell a different story, they are canonically reincarnations of the soul in a different time period past or present. Also, there is no such thing as an 'origin point' for Itaro. It folds in on itself.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
The only way this canonically can ever change about the cosmic structure of my world is if my OCs actually become real. That will obviously never happen, so this can functionally never be retconned or changed or 'reality shifted' lmao. These worlds can only view each other, in lore.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Also that it's impossible for the 'real world' and my book worlds to ever cross over. It will always be a 'copy of the real world' but never 'the real world'. After all, if it was, then my OCs would be real. Therefore, even if a xiozian is fighting a 'real person' it's still a 'copy'.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
The lore explanation of the 'real world' (our reality) is that BCE and CE is the middle point and origin of our very own infinitely expanding past and future. That the 'real world' is also a world like Itaro and Lithiria. Just with a little less magic in it...
110
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Itaro's infinite reality, ever growing past and future, can be forever changed when an existence born in Lithiria enters Itaro. So long as they make an impact. That is what it means to be truly 'fateless'.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
If a Lithirian has a child with a xiozian from Itaro, Itaro is favored on a cosmic level. If a xiozian dies in Lithiria, then Lithiria is favored on a cosmic level. If someone is born in Itaro, they forever become apart of tis infinite reality.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Any power a being has in Lithiria is unchanged by the presence of a xiozian. Although, there are no gods who can enter Lithiria with their full omnipotence without becoming apart of its cycle of rebirth. If a Lithirian ever went outside of Lithiria or Itaro they'd instantly create a multiverse.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
because of this, the humans of Lithiria are by far both the easiest and most difficult for xiozians to defeat out of any other reality.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
In Lithiria, the souls of its inhabitants meld together, break apart, grow, and shrink for all time in both past and future. The past is constantly expanding backward just like the future is constantly expanding forward just as in Itaro.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Little side bit about Lithiria. It is essentially the 'human' version of Itaro. It possesses the exact same quality, but with a slight bit of nuance. There are no omnipotent gods within Lithiria. There are only demigods who briefly ascend to pantheon level godhood ('g' gods) before dying.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Basically, it's a power system where they struggle most against characters who are comparable to them, and they have the easiest time against characters who are vastly more powerful than them. But they're ALWAYS fighting opponents who are comparable to themselves (other xiozians)
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
It'd be super awesome if I could create a power system which utterly turns the power-scaling debates on their heads while also being a very cool system that keeps characters grounded with limitations and weaknesses.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Anyways, that's my brain dump. Things are subject to change as I get better and better ideas, or as I find what works and what doesn't in the actual story. This just helps me 'feel it out' and hopefully come to a power system which isn't just "My OCs are the bestest and strongest guys ever!"
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
It's not always an easy victory for a xiozian. The hardest part, however, is getting to the god in the first place so they can kill them. Gods love putting champions in front of them. Whether it's incarnate versions of themselves (avatars) or mortals they've granted power (demigods)
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
You can get smarter as a diety to counter a xiozian. You've basically gotta kill them in a very roundabout way. Send demigods at them, create monsters to kill them, preserve a certain highly specialized version of your own powers within an avatar which can counter a specific xiozian.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Try to snap a xiozian out of existence? You essentially write a law which says "I am a being with the power to divinely erase xiozians" Therefore, you become a normal person, or you cease to exist.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Because from a divine standpoint: You are either vulnerable enough for a xiozian's passive ability to have no effect on you (hence 'immune') or you do not exist (hence 'erased').
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
If a God ever tries to use their omnipotence to change this law, it's basically like throwing a stick in the spokes of the bike they're riding. Making a rule of "I am immune to a xiozian's abilities" in turn, makes you into a mortal or just erases you.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Logically, if it were true that a single character was powerful enough to destroy every universe they inhabit and that they are strong in every single reality at all times, that would make them a diety. Which, in turn, means that their omnipotence is contradicted and robbed from them.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
A xiozian basically mashes all the different 'versions' of their opponents together. They will always fight the 'average' of every possible version of their opponent. That includes realities where they are infinitely strong and infinitely weak. That's why this happens when they're around.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
So a xiozian might have better 'tools' or maybe the god has better 'tools' to win a fight with. But in the end, it's the 'player' behind them which wins. Who has better strategy? Who uses their tools the best under limitations? Who is more skilled? Who understands the 'game' better? That's who wins.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
The best way I could describe it is with smash bros. It's like watching the divine god-like one winged angel Sephiroth getting his ass handed to him by Minecraft Steve. Lore-wise, Seph should win. Game-wise, Steve has better tools to win. Depending on who the player is, though, Seph can still win.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
This is admittedly not a GREAT explanation of how that aspect of the xiozians work, but it's the best I can do in a smaller format. I can see how something like this would be misunderstood 'so they just gotta believe it kills them and it will?' no. That's not how it works.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
A xiozian could tank a multi-versal destructive big super laser piss attack like it was a light breeze, but they'll die to a fucking knife in their neck if it was delivered by someone who knows how to tie 'meaning' to that strike. Xiozians clash their existence with their opponent's.
100
Scrit @scritrighter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
You know when you see a fictional character blow up an entire universe and it feels less important than watching a dog die on screen? That's the effect. It's the MEANING behind the damage, not the 'My destructive power is multiverse level 🤓' that can harm a xiozian.
