Child of God, husband, dad, pastor. In that order. Also a sports fan & card collector. Love the Cardinals, especially the 1985 team! And the reason I’m here is pretty much just for #CardSky. Built 1956 Topps set. Now working on 1975 Topps.

Super proud of my son Jack, who received word today that he had passed the Illinois bar exam! Fortunately for him he gets both his smarts and his good looks from his mom.

How timely! The Fall 2026 issue of Memories and Dreams (the official magazine of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum) focuses on women in baseball, including the Hall’s display with its photo of Lois Florreich, who we just inducted into the Statesmen Sports Hall of Fame this past Saturday!

Happened upon this mural of Moses Fleetwood Walker, who was the first black player in Major League Baseball, debuting for the Toledo Blue Stockings on May 1, 1884.

Even with all that’s happened since then, nothing can ever change the excitement and joy I felt 28 years ago tonight at Busch Memorial Stadium when Mark McGwire hit his record-breaking 62nd home run. Forever thankful for one of my all-time greatest sports experiences... #StLCards

Getting excited for the upcoming college football season! The astute observer will notice upon closer inspection that the one on the right has teams in order of the AP rankings. Hoping Mizzou can find their way to the top shelf!

It just occurred to me that not only did Ken Boyer’s first two cards use the same picture, so did his last two cards. What a quirky case of bookends! By the way…he should be in the Hall of Fame! #CardSky

I absolutely love college football, and am definitely looking forward to the upcoming season, but I have to admit…as I sit here at my office desk wearing my @super70ssports.bsky.social t-shirt, there is a part of me that really misses the good old days of proper conferences like the Big 8!

Closing in on 500 of them…and always looking for more! Please share with others who might be willing to part with a bunch of 1985 NL MVP Willie McGee card #757 at a reasonable price! Donations also accepted. 😂 #StLCards #TheHobby #Collect #CardSkt #OneCardCollection

Picked up a 1971 Topps Super Bob Gibson (didn’t even know such a thing existed) and a bunch of goodies from the dime box at the LCS today. #CardSky

Always fun poking through the dime box at the LCS. 10 cents is not a bad price for a beloved childhood memory! #CardSky

Not a big collector of anything current (give me vintage!), but I decided to pick up these two when I saw them. JJ is going to be so good, and Jordan has steadfastly been my guy since he first arrived in MLB! #StLCards

Have been neglecting BlueSky for awhile. Need to get active again to keep up with all the great folks over here! To celebrate the All-Star break, I’ll share what is forever sure to be one of the greatest snubs in All Star history: Richie Zisk getting robbed of his All-Star shield in 1978 Topps…

Anyone know if the player pictured on this card actually is (Webster Groves HS alum) Jim Krebs? I suspect that in reality it is Hot Rod Hundley. They both were rookies with the Lakers that year, but Krebs wore #32 while Hundley wore #33. Thanks for any insight.

100 years ago today, perhaps the greatest pitcher who ever lived began his career, as Leroy “Satchel” Paige took the mound for the first time as a professional baseball player. (HT: @markarmour04.bsky.social)

So thankful for this #TTMsuccess from the 101-year old Rev. Bill Greason. He’s the oldest living former MLB player and the last remaining player from the Negro Leagues. He was also kind enough to answer my questions on best player (Willie Mays) & favorite Bible verse (John 3:16).

They just played “We Are Family,” and now they follow it up with “Celebration.” It must be a special “world championship baseball team theme song” episode. #1979Pirates #1982Cardinals

My Ted Williams card is in a slab, so I’ve got the Archives card as a placeholder, but here is my 1956 Topps binder. I still can’t believe this actually happened. Adolescent Pete would be awed. Next project: 1975 Topps.

Found one at a price I liked, and with that, I now have officially completed my 1956 Topps set build! Frankly, I can’t believe this is a reality, and will be sharing some more thoughts in the future. For now though, thanks so much to everyone who helped make this dream come true!

#MailDay: Added this one today to complete (I think) my subset of 1975-76 Topps cards including the ABA’s Spirits of St. Louis. Bob Costas would no doubt approve! Looking forward to checking out Soul Power on Prime Video. I’ve heard great things about it.

Fun mail day: -An unexpected old TTM request from 1980s Cardinals closer Todd Worrell. -A 1947 Dell MLB season preview with Stan the Man on the front and Flint native Sophie Kurys of the AAGPBL on the back. -A lot to add to my 1985 Topps Willie McGee card 757 #OneCardCollection.

Saw that Roy Face died yesterday at the age of 97. “The Baron of the Bullpen,” Face was one of the first great relievers who (along with Hoyt Wilhelm) pioneered the role of bullpen closers in the 1950s & 60s. Thankful to have had him sign this card a few years back. RIP.

OTD in 1919, the great Jackie Robinson was born. When my son took AP US History, the class had a debate tournament to determine who was the “greatest American ever.” Jack argued for Robinson…and won the whole thing. Today he’s in his final semester of law school at Northwestern!

They say you haven’t really started building a set from the 1950s until you have the Mantle. Well, I guess I’ve finally started building 1956 Topps. Knew it would have to be in abysmal condition to be in my price range. It absolutely is (multiple tears and taped). But I love it!! #CardSky #vintage

Five years ago today, Hank Aaron died. On that day, I posted this picture, representing Hall of Fame players who had died in the previous ten months. That was a really rough stretch.

We have a 90-year old member at church who is one of the coolest dudes ever. His late wife used to collect cards and apparently he still has old packs around the house, because he gives me some each Christmas. May not be valuable cards, but I absolutely LOVE this.

Each Veterans Day, my thoughts inevitably drift to one veteran in particular. That said, thank you to all (both alive and departed) who have answered the call of duty and faithfully served our country. May each of us live our lives in such a way that honors their service and their sacrifice. 🇺🇸
