Why am I speaking of Shadow Generations like that game was from millions of years ago it's like barely last year Actually that's probably because it's just a feature-length bonus game and after it the writing just went back to the way it was so far in stuff like Crossworlds or the DC crossover

So yeah uh Ian Flynn carried Sonknux on his fucking back in Sonic Frontiers and I think that's pretty based And I long for the day where the actual Sonic & friends that I'm a fan of finally come back in a game that has writing on par with like Sonic Unleashed or Shadow Generations

I think Ian Flynn's writing deserves to be criticized so he can improve as a writer and be better So the writing of Sonic in general can improve and be better cus we had it too good with Shadow Generations and that was a collaborative effort That's just how stuff works

I think the Sonic community should probably stop settling for mediocrity and actually ask for better We shouldn't just settle for like I dunno the same exact dogshit Sonic model we've had for 20 years and we shouldn't settle for mediocre writing just because it's better than what we had

It'd be charming if it's just a little fan project but these are official media and it always just feels like "Hey, you know this thing?" and that's it And the dialogue just referencing already iconic lines everybody knows like the back of their hand kinda just makes Ian's writing less memorable

And as for like the constant stream of pointless unnecessary references It's just that Pointless and unnecessary Like I don't care if Sonic and Shadow recite their Green Forest banter or if Sonic and Eggman just say the lyrics of Open Your Heart out loud or if Sonic mentions the Time Stones

It's why I find it kinda irritating seeing people point at stuff where Sonic just isn't acting like Sonic and go "THAT'S Sonic" like no??? Do you not know the character that you're a fan of?? If you like Ian Flynn's Sonic that's completely fine but it's just wrong to say that his version IS Sonic

I don't particularly care for Ian Flynn's writing at all I find it kinda unmemorable compared to the sheer horror of Pontac & Graff but Ian's a chill guy and the Sonic community is a shithole so I try my best not to talk about it
