Very early Season 1 Ren I greatly love you with your black eyelids and that bird mouth you sometimes have

Lammy’s my comfort character always and forever but I feel the world is deserving of more Sunny Funny fans.

What scene makes you emotional no matter how many times you’ve seen it? This moment from the original Toy Story where Woody convinces Buzz what it truly means to be a toy and how much Andy cares for him... only to remember that an old toy like him greatly pales in comparison to what Buzz has.

Sonic X Cosmo screenshot redraw but it's a Chuck Jones cartoon from the 60's/70's (Grinch, Phantom Tollbooth, Tom and Jerry, Nelly's Frolly, Raggedy Ann) This was on the backburner for awhile cause I wanted to make it good but a drawing trend on another site convinced me to finish it.

The great disappointment I felt when there's gonna be an Adult Swim 25th anniversary cruise ship murder mystery special and yet they DON'T invite Creepy Susie.

It's been 10 years since Sanjay and Craig came to an end and on Tania Gunadi's birthday no less! So I just drew her character Sam because I really wish they did a lot more with her...

I wanted to be like Dexter growing up since he was a boy genius with a big-ass lab, lots of cool inventions and gadgets, and a pet monkey who is a superhero but all along I think I was more like Dee Dee since I was really silly and quite destructive. (But not too dumb!)

K.J. @scramblednuts.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

I often think about how hard those Buzz Lightyear figures go because even if we never actually see these variants in the movies, they just went out of their way to make Buzz look cooler than he is.

I think the one thing I miss from the old Pixar movies is that there's often a ragtag group of different characters who are all friends to the main protagonist and stand out a lot in their appearances and personalities.

Been watching some very early Animaniacs episodes on Tubi this past weekend and I’ve really taken notice on how some occasions, they would have Dr. Scratchansniff and Hello Nurse joining in with Ralph on chasing and catching the Warners showing a three-against-three rivalry.

Current mood: The weird shit Disney put out in the mid-to-late-2000's that isn't Pixar nor their main animation department.

Disappointment vs Devestation

K.J. @scramblednuts.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

Having suffered through both films, it's easy to say the first is better. The animation is clearly done by artists who not only having fun but have some respect for the old cartoons of the 40's and 50's. The sequel's animation IS fine but very bland and boring to look at a lot of the time.

Big shout-out to retraux cartoons that bring the source material back to their less mainstream but highly charming roots with a modern twist and be very stylistic as well.

I've always found it so bland and generic, especially when compared to these:

I love how Warner Bros 40 years ago literally released these films a week apart and they’re pretty much the same plot. A silly, childish character from TV goes on a nationwide adventure, makes some friends and enemies along the way, and unexpected events and twists occur.

One thing I like about marathoning Sanjay and Craig is that you can really feel the show evolve from a suburban Flapjack to what I feel might be the spiritual predecessor to Middlemost Post in terms of pacing and sense of humor.

I know discourse about Sanjay and Craig's characters are awkward and all but can we talk about Hector's Mom for a minute?

From Be Like Tufflips. All in the same shot!

020

K.J. @scramblednuts.bsky.social · 28/05/2025

Special mention goes to the climax of Wolfie and the entirety of Unbarfable (The first two Hector-centric episodes) for how much the characters go fully off-model and being the most cartoony episodes.

131

K.J. @scramblednuts.bsky.social · 28/05/2025

Much like Adventure Time's first and second seasons and Regular Show's first three seasons, the Flapjack spirit really shines in how these early episodes look and feel. Certainly helps that Thurop was involved early on. It would be insane to see Sam, Ronnie, Chido, or Stasi drawn this loosely.

K.J. @scramblednuts.bsky.social · 28/05/2025

Currently in the process of marathoning Sanjay and Craig and I forgot how much I had a soft spot for how the early episodes look when it isn't being too grotesque and all that. I honestly like how loose and wonky the drawings could get in the first season. (Especially in the earlier half)

As I get into Season 2 with Steampunks and the birth of Michelle, I really like to mention how much callbacks they crammed in the S1 finale with Miriam's scrunchie gang from Comet Night!, The Sillies, Dade getting "drunk" again like in Nightclub Night, and even past characters returning.

Been meaning to post The Chance Parade from A Day of No To-Do because it's PURE animation! Between the lovely visuals and Ego Plum's fantastic music, they went all out on the midpoint of Season 1.

The fact that the two greatest movies released by 20th Century Fox don't even have an official Blu-Ray release baffles me. (Raggedy Ann in particular doesn't even have any home video release beyond the VHS generation)
