#BookSky Sour Cherry Natalia Theodoridou ⭐⭐⭐ I liked this, though the first third was the most interesting. The shifting points of view were a bit distracting, though the prose was quite beautiful and haunting. I would only recommend for those who love horror based in fairy tales of yore.

I've been super lax on #BookSky this year so will try to catch up. It Stephen King ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reread as an adult and boy that "act of love" at the end really hits different now. Why no editor protested is beyond me. Otherwise it was a great read and useful for remembering details I had long forgotten.

This is the response I got from my Congressional Rep Addison McDowell (R-NC6) after I messaged his office about CBP and ICE funding. They literally blame Good and Pretti for their own deaths. Despicable! (He's also the one who brought a bill to rename Dulles airport for Trump) Vote them all out!

Dear Ms. Cox-Smith,

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding the death of Alex Pretti. As your voice in Washington, it is my responsibility to represent the citizens of North Carolina's Sixth District, and I truly appreciate your input.

On January 24th, during an immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis, federal law enforcement officers were engaged in a confrontation leading to the death of Mr. Pretti. The tragic videos coming out of Minneapolis depict a chaotic scene that never should have happened in the first place.

ICE and Border Patrol have critical and dangerous jobs. Their jobs are made more dangerous by the actions and rhetoric coming directly from Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. I applaud President Trump's decision to send Tom Homan to Minnesota to help end the chaos and bring accountability to the situation.

#BookSky If It Bleeds Stephen King ⭐⭐⭐ Last review of the year. I liked the Holly Gibney story (If It Bleeds) about another kind of Outsider, Life of Chuck was as expected, since I watched the movie on a flight a few months ago and Rat was ok. Good for winding down the end of the year in reading.

#BookSky Nobody's Girl Virginia Roberts Guiffre 😔😔😔 I did not enjoy reading this book and to be honest several times I had to put it down and walk away for a bit. It is worth your time despite the sadness it invokes, though be aware that she was abused from childhood and does not shy away from it.

#BookSky The Bewitching Sylvia Moreno-Garcia ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Every Moreno-Garcia book becomes my new fave and The Bewitching is no different. Three stories intertwined from 1900s Mexico to a Massachusetts uni in the 1930s and 1990s at the same school. There are witches everywhere and they're up to no good.

#BookSky Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil V.E. Schwab ⭐⭐⭐ Another YA-leaning vampire saga. I liked it, though it got very repetitive with the descriptions of blood sucking and victims dying. Would have been better with a better editor. There are two characters called Sabine, so that helped.

#BookSky Martyr Kaveh Akbar ⭐⭐ The story of Cyrus Shams just never clicked with me. Akbar writes in an intriguing voice but the beautiful prose just didn't help me connect. I'm pretty sure this is a me problem and maybe my state of mind at the time I was reading Martyr wasn't optimal.
