Tonight FIFA squandered an opportunity to stand up homophobia in football. Instead, when fans chanted the homophobic “puto” chant, FIFA did nothing. FIFA ignored its *own guidelines* to follow a 3-step protocol to 1) pause, 2) suspend, & 3) abandon play, if necessary. FIFA’s word means so little.

I think goal line technology is great. But this 5 minutes to watch in ultra slow motion to see if a player's dick was offside....what the hell are we doing here? It's a classic example of a law/regulation that has been completely separated from its original purpose. It's tech for tech's sake now.

This tournament has always been France's to lose. They are annoyingly irresistible, as a not France supporter. Argentina have the greatest player but not the greatest team. That has given them a false sense of security, on top of playing lower quality teams in the group stage.
