With the Rangers giving the Penguins their first round pick, the Penguins now carry the 5th most draft capital in the league drafting back to back at 11 and 12.

We're into the last week before the NHL Draft. It's an exciting time and I figure we're going to see some real craziness next weekend. Here's the landscape of all the players ranked in 2/3 of the rankings I track. My own final list will drop publicly on Thursday!

It's the final day for me and the 2008-2011 boys group here in Charlottetown. What a week it's been. Thanks so much to the whole staff and for the opportunity to be here. It's playoff day, and it's going to be a live one.

One thing about PEI... The sky is certainly big.

With some key rankings updated recently, here's a view of the current landscape for the 2025 NHL Draft. Some tiers definitely developing, but I'd say brace for chaos.

With some new rankings available going into this evening, here's a weighed average of the rankings I track, but seeing as Bob McKenzie's list is just 16 names long, I am still using his midseason list.

A bajillion new rankings have dropped in the last week or so, and we're getting into 2025 NHL Draft season real fast! We'll discuss all of this and more tomorrow on Scouching Live at 2pm EST at youtube.com/scouching!

With some new lists dropping and finalizing my own, here's where we stand with a weighed average of ~20 rankings in my database. We're definitely seeing some tiers forming but I don't buy this staying this way whatsoever.

Will Scouch @scouching.ca · 24/02/2025

Lucky you, ended my day tracking both so this is freshly updated! Hagens: A gifted playmaker getting more confident with his shot selection and more physical than you might think. Martone: Also a gifted playmaker, also getting better with shot selection and less physical than you may think.

Will Scouch @scouching.ca · 24/02/2025

Puck carrying monster with some inside playmaking and crazy work rate. I love him but have no idea what to think of him beyond a solid 3rd line speedy and pesky centre.

040

Will Scouch @scouching.ca · 24/02/2025

I love me some Billy Z, but the numbers don't quite back it up. A great defensive zone presence, forechecker and transition quarterback who just hasn't gotten the offensive results at 5v5 yet, but he's trying. Impressive player with speed, pace and creativity.

120

Will Scouch @scouching.ca · 24/02/2025

If anything his defensive results are a hallmark of his game in my sample, and I think he's a bit of a fish out of water with TC. Plenty of stuff he tries just goes unrewarded on the other end way too often.

000

Will Scouch @scouching.ca · 24/02/2025

Eklund does outperform Frondell in many areas but his profile is simpler due to Frondell's injuries and league jumping.

040

Will Scouch @scouching.ca · 24/02/2025

No clearer example of "Give me the puck, and I'm just going to do the whole thing by myself, just go to the net." Then not doing much, rinse, repeat.

120

Will Scouch @scouching.ca · 24/02/2025

So far one of the best overall profiles. Do I buy it? Not particularly, but he's a smart player who drives great results in transition with simple, but effective offensive zone results. Very passive and ineffective defensively on the rush, but still a very good contributor.

020

Will Scouch @scouching.ca · 24/02/2025

All around just fine. A player who definitely has a bit of a limited ceiling, but a very projectable profile in his style of play.

020

Will Scouch @scouching.ca · 24/02/2025

Pretty dang good, especially offensively. A great, tactical and well balanced centre.

With some new rankings dropping recently as well as my own, here's a look at the landscape as of today. These players have been ranked in 12+ of my tracked rankings. Starting to see some tiers forming, and James Hagens' grip on a 1st overall rating is slipping... for now...

An updated look at the 2025 NHL Draft landscape of tracked rankings from around the prospect sphere including my forthcoming list. Finalizing my list today but here's where we stand.

It's safe to say the 2025 NHL Draft season is in full swing, so here's a cross-section of the current ranking landscape of players ranked in 8+ of the 15 currently in my database including my own. Some tiers already forming but I don't know if it'll hold long term.

Today on the stream, we teased a current draft of where my rankings are. Interested in catching up? Look for a writeup late November or early December. A partner level sub on Scouching.ca gets you live access to these as they shift!

Samples are bigger, Macklin Celebrini has played more, and this ordering seems to somewhat pass the smell test. Team Scouching is the odd logo in there. Again, this order is a data-only view of the landscape, and all we can really work with is points and biographical info.

Slift in Toronto. Epic and highly recommended.
