A slightly unusual #topshelffriday for me. One of my biggest artistic inspirations passed away this week: Matt Howarth. I've posted some stuff of his on past Friday's, but here's a bunch of Howarth stuff including my shortbox which is JUST Howarth stuff. #comics #comicsky

I may have posted this before. This was the first issue of LoSH I ever owned (not this particular copy of it). It came in a 3-pack of DC/Whitman comics for $1 at remainder store called Building 19 3/4 in Walpole, MA. #topshelffriday #comicbooks #comicsky

#topshelffriday ... featuring Space Beaver, by @darickr.bsky.social , who most people know from Transmetropolitan or The Boys.

Mail call. Completed my Particle Dreams run, and now I think I have a run of Elementals from 1-20, give or take. I used to have Spirit of Wonders in the collected edition but got rid of it years ago and now it goes for 50-70 bucks, but the individual issues were under $3 each. #comics #comicsky

Recent-ish pickup. I always try to find Amazing Heroes back issues, and this one features an article on Studio Proteus which is how a lot of us Old People got introduced to manga. #topshelffriday #comics #comicsky

shockingly my #topshelffriday comic this time around IS NOT an obscure 80s title, but instead one of the great Marshall Rogers issues of Detective Comics. Rogers and Austin, man... what a team. #comicsky

"You talk most like someone from Massachusetts — about 55% of your answers match a typical resident." This makes sense since I spent the first 26 years of my life in Massachusetts and have been back in MA since 2013.

Top Shelf Friday. I can't remember if i posted this before or not, but here's a rare(r) Matt Howarth comic I found at a local show a few months back. Maybe the first Keif Llama appearance? I'd have to check. Gonna have to order the other 5 issues though. #topshelffriday #comics #comicsky

Always loved this Gumby special. Written by Bob "Flaming Carrot" Burden. Drawn by Art "so many things" Adams. Absurd humor and lovely art. Got it signed last weekend at Terrificon.

Got to meet @mindyleedoodles.bsky.social at Terrificon today. Bought an Illyana/Kitty print and her artbook. She was super nice too. When I was getting comics signed by Brian Strelfeeeze he saw the book and asked to look through it and was really taken with the style.

#topshelffriday Picked this one up last weekend. Not because I care about Superman, but because the LoSH backup is the story of Matter-Eater Lad going on a date with Shrinking Violet. My cousin had this comic when I was a kid, and I wanted to own it. #comics #comicsky

#topshelffriday this week? HEROES #1 (1985) , a comic I thought I had maybe imagined. I have asked on bluesky, twitter, FB, discord about this, using the very limited things I remember about it and no one knew what I was talking about. But I found it! #comicsky #comics

Reading through the Amazing Heroes 1988 Preview issue and hey... it's Space Beaver by @darickr.bsky.social

Scott S @scottms.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

I have been trying to remember the name of this comic for about 30 years and I have given a synopsis of what I remember about it here, on twitter, on facebook... I have tagged collectors who I know have GIANT collections... and it took reading through Amazing Heroes 1988 Preview Special to find it.
