I wonder if you're going to start seeing it everywhere, now that you know to look for it. (That often happens to me.)

That's the route we took and it's worked well so far.

I wonder how Doomsday Book by Connie Willis would land today, on a reread.

That's interesting... I'm considering moving the opposite direction. For my current set, the bath mat isn't anchored (it's just fabric all the way through), but the toilet mat has a backing. Unfortunately, after each wash the backing flakes and it's down to about 50 percent coverage.

It was short but fun! The product sounds... unpleasant as a texture, but it works?

Yeah, I often drink bag tea in the evening - a simple green often hits the right notes and doesn't involve boiling up a whole kettle for one cup.

And they are great books! (I recently picked up digital versions of the Door Into series while I was there.)

I loved the writeup, and can imagine the considering looks of your players at the torch lighting scene. Seems very fun!

I am curious about what Freezer Bear's explanation is! Like, do you say he's doing something?

Thanks; I did wind up reading all the way through. Amazing how the companies figured out that adding passwords here and there was enough to disable repair and fair use.

Yeah, I recently picked this back up again, and it'd be bad. Maybe I could just grind away in a corp tower somewhere? Hide out until edge runners burst in on their big mission?

I finished Ann Leckie's Lake of Souls (short stories) early this week, and have moved on to her book Provenance.

Thank you - it's was an excellent article and didn't go in any of the directions that I expected. But it made sense as soon as it was explained, and I certainly remember money as a barrier from my own early career.

Similar here; we had a mild summer (for us; mostly 90s and some 100s, not 110s) - though the heat dome did threaten the previously mild summer.

Interesting article throughout. I liked they way you started with the note about the newest "Iran peace deal" before pivoting. And Pirro getting her comeuppance was a nice finish!

Thanks for the link - I'd heard the myth, but the real story makes sense. (It does rob us of a villain, but reality provides plenty.)

Is that a plant that continues over the winter, or do you plant fresh each spring? I left an Arugula over winter last year, and it was very hearty (and still tasty) this spring. It went a little crazy because I let it go to seed (for the bees and butterflies...)

It's amazing how often something like this works... and how reluctant I am to take steps. Once I am committed and touch the bike, no problem - but convincing myself... that's the friction.

Yeah, when you explicitly exclude the entire genres I tend to read (SF&F, mysteries, etc.), I don't know if I could name 1 living author that I've read 5 books by. But that seems to be a very different question than the original "who supports living authors?" intent.

We are very lucky; our "local" aquarium is www.montereybayaquarium.org. They're really helped the Southern Sea Otter survive difficult times, and have spearheaded the creation of great marine sanctuaries that help so many species.

It's this line of thought in Card's Pastwatch that became an interesting justification. Slavery is bad, but not as bad as murder, so a culture that enslaves defeating a culture that kills all defeated foes results in some hope for a future (instead of genocide).

Very silly question - what are you trying to cue with "A companion to"? If I encountered it in a bookstore, without reading you here, I'd assume it was a world-building, art, and background book, not another novel in the universe.

Yet, when Supervisor Luis Chavez directly asked if the board would be willing to add language recognizing the success and love of LGBTQ families raising children, the request was flatly rejected by Supervisor Bredefeld.

(To address concerns raised by Supervisor Buddy Mendes regarding the exclusion of other family structures, a new paragraph was added. This addition officially recognizes the hard work and sacrifice of single mothers, single fathers, grandparents, foster parents, and parents with joint custody.)

Other books are fun to skim, but just add overhead and "do I want to track that?" issues. If you really want to replicate the experience of a specific world (like you loved Baldur's Gate as a video game and want that feel at your table) add that specific book.
