From what I’ve heard, plastics are recyclable, but, since they are basically a waste product of producing oil/gasoline/etc, producing new plastic is essentially free. Whereas recycling plastic is costly, not cost effective. If the goal was to “save the planet” they could recycle. The goal is profit

ESL authors not always putting together readable papers isn’t racist, it’s just how it is. “Native English speaker” means “not ESL”. There’s nothing racist about any of this. There isn’t even any judgement of the non-native speaker. Dude I coauthored with was great at science, just not at English

How is it immediately racist? There was a paper for NASA that I co-authored, one of the other authors was very ESL and his English was really bad like his part of the paper was a total mess. I made it coherent, everybody was fine, and I got praise for the QA/QC when we presented at Langley.

I’ve seen a rather small percentage of these shows, like 15 or so. I did see the ones in the number 1, 2, and 3 spots, none of which I found particularly good. This list was made by someone relatively young and unfamiliar with the history of teevee.
