Here's the text with alt text and a link to the video. youtu.be/7bYu7KTmhko?...
TRANSCRIPT: My overwhelming feeling about transgender young people is the awareness that half of them try to kill themselves before they're 18.
When I think about this debate, the thing that I'm concerned about is how many desperate, vulnerable young people there are who literally try to kill themselves, who feel completely unaccepted.
So I'm someone who loves sports. I played three sports in high school. I played varsity sports through college. I love sports. But if you ask me what is more important - who gets to be on the team or who's accepted as a human being and doesn't try and kill themselves?
My heart goes out to the vulnerable people who are trying to kill themselves. And to be clear, this is not some huge epidemic. This is a right-wing attempt to victimize and villainize already vulnerable and desperate people.
My heart completely goes out to the people who were so sad, feel so rejected, so unaccepted that half of them would try and kill themselves. That's my overriding concern here and I believe the law is right.

Tweet from Greg Bovino (The Border Patrol guy who was the public face of a lot of the Minneapolis ICE bullshit).

Text: ICE Agents at Delaney, hang in there.

Every one of us wants to be shoulder to shoulder with you.

In speaking with he Mean Green Team, they send you support and are wishing you the best.

Give them hell and live the moment!! 🇺🇸 💪 🤠

End of text from Bovino's tweet.

Description of image in his tweet: Bovino is standing next to what looks like a law enforcement vehicle of some kind, wearing tactical gear, and holding his right arm up with his hand flat and fingers all together. Some might describe it as looking similar to a Nazi "Sieg Heil" salute.

Accountability for Better Care Act
Senator Jon Husted

Problem: The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has made health care less affordable, and extending the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits (EPTCs) without any reforms simply transfers the rising cost of health care onto taxpayers. Without any action, American families will see their premiums rise because of the perverse incentives and failures created by Congressional Democrats through the Affordable Care Act.
American health care is not underfunded; it is under-accountable.
Solution: The Accountability for Better Care Act extends EPTCs on a short-term basis with reforms to promote program integrity and remove perverse incentives. The Accountability for Better Care Act creates a runway for Congress to address the root causes of higher health care costs, while providing Americans with stability in their premiums.

The Accountability for Better Care Act:

- Extends Enhanced Premium Tax Credits for two years, providing Congress a runway to
substantively address the rising costs of health care.

- Requires a minimum monthly payment of $5 for all ACA enrollees. Zero-dollar premium
plans created by the American Rescue Plan Act invited fraud at the taxpayer’s expense.
Requiring even a modest monthly premium will help reduce the incentives for fraudulent
enrollees.

- Maintains household premium contributions for incomes between 100% and 400% of the
Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

- Extends eligibility to individuals between 400% and 600% FPL, with gradually
increasing houschold premium contributions up to 600% FPL threshold (600% FPL for a
household of 4 is $192,000 annually).- Extends eligibility to individuals between 400% and 600% FPL, with gradually increasing houschold premium contributions up to 600% FPL threshold (600% FPL for a household of 4 is $192,000 annually).

- Expiring EPTCs create a large premium increase for individuals earning above 400% FPL. This proposal phases in increasing household contributions up to the 600% FPL income cap.

- Appropriates Cost Sharing Reductions beginning in 2027.

- Funding the Cost Sharing Reductions would lower premiums approximately 10-20% percent by removing the need for silver-loading.

- Includes Hyde Amendment protections for Qualified Health Plans beginning in plan year 2026.

- Extends eligibility only to U.S. Citizens. Currently, EPTCs are available to noncitizens lawfully present in the United States.

As leaders, we lost our mission a bit about what higher education was about. We’re educational organizations. We’re not political organizations, like the R.N.C. or D.N.C. We’re not even social advocacy organizations.

Roth: No, and none of our schools has ever been that.

Jennifer Mnookin: I think that many universities, not all, but many, were for a period of time deeply focused on identity diversity, and really not so focused on viewpoint diversity or belief diversity. I think there’s a danger of a pendulum swinging too far in the other direction, and we need to worry about that. But I think universities should be spaces where ideas, and different ideas, embodied by people from different backgrounds, come together, and where it won’t always be comfortable, but where we will learn and do better from that engagement.

Kaminer: President Roth, you’ve also said that some of the Trump administration’s priorities align with work that you already felt colleges and universities should be doing. Is this crisis empowering you to do things you otherwise could not?

Michael Roth: Oh, on the contrary. I think it’s given viewpoint diversity a bad odor because it’s being imposed on us, not because the federal government was looking for ideological diversity, but because they’re looking for loyalty. I think this initiative has as much to do with scientific research as the early [antisemitism] initiative had to do with protecting Jews. This is an extortionist move to try to hold institutions that are heavily dependent on federal funding, as research institutions are, to have leverage over them.

I think, of course, as my colleagues have said, we can do more than one thing at the same time. The problem, I think, for many people is: How do you negotiate with a partner who’s willing to actually destroy what we do well?

Beilock: Instead of stepping back and name-calling, I think our response ——

Roth: I didn’t name-call, did I?

Beilock: Oh, you definitely name-called. Instead of doing that, I think our responsibility as presidents should be to look at what we’re doing and how we can do it better, certainly in concert with the federal government, and be clear and defend our rights and values, whether that’s free expression, academic freedom, and understand that’s our responsibility to the American people, where trust in higher education is low.

(Bloomberg Government) -- Senate
Republicans are quietly pushing back
against President Donald Trump’s mid-
level nominees, prompting more picks
to withdraw than any president in
recent history.

The White House has withdrawn more
than 50 nominees so far this Congress
— the most in any single year over the
last few decades, a Bloomberg
Government analysis of Senate
records shows. The nominees have
cited a variety of reasons for their
withdrawal, including health and
personal considerations, but a growing
number have backed out because
enough Republican senators said they
wouldn’t support their confirmation.

(Salt Lake City) - During this week’s Salt Lake County Council meeting the Republican majority voted
to close the beloved 10th East Senior Center.

Similar to the daycare closure, the action came without any specific notification to the public or to the
seniors who rely on the services provided at the center. Nearly 600 seniors visit the center for meals,
recreational opportunities, and critical social interactions with their peers and community.

In November 2022, the County Council voted unanimously to fund a $10 million re-build of the aging
senior center. The decision to rebuild the center was made after residents expressed significant
support for the project.

All four Democratic members of the County Council listed below voted to keep the center open, and to
honor the commitment made by the County to its seniors to rebuild the facility.

Reconstruction of the center began in September of this year, and approximately $3 million has
already been spent on the project. The County will need to spend additional funds to ramp down the
project and to demolish the building.

Closing this senior center will result in millions of taxpayers dollars being completely wasted.

JUSTICE SOTOMAYOR, with whom JUSTICE KAGAN and JUSTICE JACKSON join, dissenting from the denial of application for stay and denial of certiorari. Take out your phone, go to the clock app, and find the stopwatch. Click start. Now watch the seconds as they climb. Three seconds come and go in a blink. At the thirty-second mark, your mind starts to wander. One minute passes, and you begin to think that this is taking a long time. Two . . . three . . . . The clock ticks on. Then, finally, you make it to four minutes. Hit stop. Now imagine for that entire time, you are suffocating. You want to breathe; you have to breathe. But you are strapped to a gurney with a mask on your face pumping your lungs with nitrogen gas. Your mind knows that the gas will kill you. But your body keeps telling you to breathe. That is what awaits Anthony Boyd tonight. For two to four minutes, Boyd will remain conscious while the State of Alabama kills him in this way. When the gas starts flowing, he will immediately convulse. He will gasp for air. And

Herb Alpert agrees: "Music should not be a privilege, it should be a part of the public education system." He hopes more visibility around the repair shop will encourage other school districts to re-invest in such facilities, too.

While Alpert's donation is part of a long career filled with philanthropy, he says the current political climate makes the investment feel more urgent. "I say, 'why are public funds not being spent on this?' This is a crucial part of a child's development."

It's no SHADES by DESIGN, I'll tell you what
Logo of a company called Shades by Design with black text on a white background. It's built with two rows and two columns of text with a slash with the word BY embedded in it between the left and right columns. The left column (from top to bottom) reads SHA and DES, so if you read top to bottom it says SHADES. Similarly, the right column reads DES and IGN. Again, reading top to bottom, it says DESIGN. The cleaver part is that reading across the top ROW, it says SHA and DES, so SHADES. And the bottom row is DES and IGN, so DESIGN. In summary, reading either across rows or columns, the logo reads properly as the company name.
