I think, in time, we will enjoy being here. It’s just been hard saying goodbye to Heidelberg. We were so lucky to have the time there that we did.

So far Greenville is a lovely city. There is a super nice fountain pen store, a cool stationery store, lots of hiking and biking, plus we aren’t far from the mountains. We have already been apple picking and attended a craft fair!

We will do our best to make a home here, but I think as of right now both of us want to go back to Heidelberg. If we are lucky, and can line things up, maybe in three to four years we will get to move back.

The reverse culture shock of being back in the U.S. has been hard, but hopefully it will get easier. After six weeks of living in hotels, selling off about 40% of everything we own (again), and dealing with the worst move we have ever had, we have settled in Greenville, South Carolina.

I miss my friends... the quiet mornings on cobbled streets. I miss the affordability of groceries, a walkable city, the safeness of it all, and public transport. As hard as it was to say goodbye, I know that in the 4yrs we were there, we never took it for granted. We always knew how special it was.

I’ve not posted in a bit, because Lisa and I have been dealing with a move. We have said goodbye to Heidelberg, and are now back in the U.S. We did not want to leave Heidelberg, but because of visas and contracts, things got messy, and we didn’t have enough time to try and figure out how to stay.

Paris in June. I think March into April, and September into October, are my favorite times of the year to be in Paris. Though last year the end of July for some reason was super quiet. There were minimal tourist, and a lot of locals were already gone for a month of vacation. #Paris #Photography

I'm heading to Belgium for a few days, and then the Netherlands for the Dutch Pen show! The last time I was there, it was winter, and I only saw the sun for about an hour over the course of 12 days. So I'm hoping for some better lighting this week for photos! #photography #bruges

The streets here in Heidelberg are always so quiet in the morning. Deliveries usually start around 6:30 to 7am. So until then the streets are empty. Then you have workers and students out and about, and by 9-ish the tourist fill the streets. #photography #germany #heidelberg

This is from our trip to Strasbourg, a week and a half ago. We just finished all the cheese we brought back with us yesterday! I'm always a sucker for a good comté or morbier, but I've fallen in love with Saint-Félicien and Délice de Bourgogne. French cheeses are soooo good. #Photography #France

Grindelwald, Switzerland. I stood outside in -4f/-18c weather for an hour with an additional -20f windchills to get this photo last month, and I think it was so worth it! It's no wonder I always use any excuse to visit Grindelwald. No matter the season, it is gorgeous. #Photography #Switzerland

Inks I'm currently using in my pens! Imperial Purple, Kon-Peki, and Tsutsuji are my 3 favs, and are ALWAYS in a pen. I just found out today that Sailor is discontinuing a lot of inks, so I'll probably need to find similar colors to replace the Sailor inks once my bottles are empty. #fountainpens

The Duomo in Florence. While taking this, someone tried to pick-pocket me, but got nothing. The only other time someone has tried to pickpocket me was in Paris, though in Bath, a British guy told me to give him my wallet. I told him to go f-himself, and he told me I was rude. #photography #italy

On my trip to the Alps last week I stopped in Bern. There is a really nice pen shop there called Watch and Write, where I picked up a vintage Lamy 25p! I also got checked out some museums and did some sunrise photos... #Bern #Switzerland #photography #travelphotography

Neuschwanstein isn't my favorite castle... but it's one of those ones that you kind of just have to go see. It is so amazing from the outside. For a more lived-in castle I much prefer the one here in Heidelberg or Burg Eltz. #photography #Germany #castles

Prague was one of the earliest trips we took after moving to Germany, and still one of the prettiest cities we've been to. I'm not sure when or if we will get back to it, but I think I'd really like to see it dusted with snow. #photography #Prague

I'm going back to Paris soon. So I thought I'd share this from last summer. France was my most traveled to country last year, but It's only a 1hr drive and sometimes we go because the grocery stores are better. I do like Paris though. Mostly for the coffee and stationary. #photography #Paris
