Ah, only just saw this, I don't check this that often anymore!

Generally first and business class seats, particularly long haul, often subsidise economy class seats so it definitely would cost more

It gave me some pretty useful insights with a nice conclusion! chatgpt.com/share/6829b3...

So expect to hear some horror stories coming out in the next year or two blaming Labor even though no laws have changed. The Liberals could have introduced explicit laws, but I suspect they didn't so Labor would be to blame.

There are still plenty of dubious family trust schemes, many of which aren't *explicitly* legal however there are plenty of catch all anti avoidance laws which people could be caught under. But there's been little action on cracking down, making people "think" it's legal.

That's the full cost which is usually fully or partly covered

Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 26/04/2025
Not that much though. In Australia we have a better idea of the costs of things as sometimes we have to pay (or just a part payment), but something like a CT scan is usually no more than $500-1000

Yes, I flew Brisbane to Tokyo to LA once because it was the cheapest fare. Is it now a crime to not travel in a straight line???

Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 07/04/2025
And they will insult the hell out of them, rather than encouraging them to vote Labor!
010
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 07/04/2025
They're worse than bots because I believe they are genuinely real people! They’re beginning to make me understand why people vote LNP, not that I would..

Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 07/04/2025
Yeah, I've just opted for a hard block on those types of people now - they're not interested in debating, what's best for Australia or anything really, so not worth the time of day.

Good in theory, but OPEC is good at manipulating oil prices...

What week of the election campaign are we in anyway?
011
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 06/04/2025
Problem is the Murdoch media. Also why a minority Labor government is preferable
210
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
Yes, it's like there's agreement never to bring them up in political discussions

Family trusts are something that literally no political party (major or minor), independent, or journalists bring up. That's what needs to be addressed. I suspect they're afraid if they brought attention to it, people would literally each the rich.

Fix capital gains by removing the discount and basing it on inflation. Wealth isn't real until it's realised.

Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
So you're suggesting preferencing the LNP ahead of the ALP?
110
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
Are you suggesting to preference the LNP?

Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
They're not gains or losses if they are unrealised. You'd end up with a lot of bankrupt every day Australians if that were the case

Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
On the Gold Coast there is literally just 1 new build apartment for sale under $750k, and almost none under $1m
000
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
Well a wealth tax would be better then a tax on unrealised gains, as that would also mean a tax credit on unrealised losses

Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
No last time they made it clear they WEREN'T going to change certain things
210
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
Unrealised gains can be a tricky one, but instead perhaps there needs to be a tax if they're used as collateral for loans

Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
Albo tweeted that they're going to fund ALL schools (which I guess includes private)
010
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
Although they did state they wouldn't do a lot of things...
010
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 05/04/2025
Labor perhaps best not to promise too much (including things they say they won't do)so they can win and then implement more radical policies

They deleted the tweet because it was based on census data, as well as those are all valid ISO 3166-1 country codes

Ironically will probably result in many things getting waved through without proper checks 😂

It clearly won't actually happen within those 5 days as they realise FUCK. The de minimis changes for China aren't being implemented until May and then increased in June, and they *may* make similar changes to other countries if they get systems up and running in time (they won't)

Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
I dunno, many Australians do like some of those traits unfortunately

These are the only drugs they test for, which means they don't for cocaine, speed? (perhaps too similar to ADHD meds), LSD, mushrooms, ketamine, heroin, amongst others...
000
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
Yeah that's understandable
000
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
They should be required to have some bits chopped off them to fit
030
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
Not from the THC, no.
100
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
Yes, that's why the tests aren't good for anything other than if you want to test if someone has been "using"
100
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
Well exactly, that's worse than many drugs...
000
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
Same. I rarely drink these days anyway and when I do it's less than the limit, but yes, I'm not a bloody idiot.
010
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
(unless I was too pissed and drove straight past it)
110
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
Yeah I'm not sure if people have actually lost their licence for it. However it's more of a risk if you're in an accident. I can't say I've ever been pulled over for a random drug test, and it's been a long time since an alcohol one too!
210
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
And some drugs people take for medical conditions improve their driving! 😂
000
Scott @scottjla.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
Need a better way to test how impaired people are by whatever substance. Alcohol is fairly easy in that regard, other drugs not so much.
